Chapter 10

FOREST-DAY
[Rafael, Audrey, Hope and Alaric get out of the car.]
Hope: I don't know why he's still out here.
"Stupid of him." Said Kol.
Audrey: Yeah, He has a whole day's lead on us. He could be anywhere.
Rafael: Maybe 'cause he doesn't have a reason to run. [Audrey rolls her eyes.]
"That's why he ran?" Rolled his eyes Marcel.
Hope: (Scoffs) Logic that would be perfectly believable if he hadn't, you know, ran.
Alaric: Wait... Shh! You hear that? Someone's here. [They run toward the sound. There is woman sitting near tree.]
Alaric: I-It's okay. I-I'm not gonna hurt you. Were you on the bus? Can you tell us what happened?
"What is she wearing?" Asked Kol.
"Seriously? Now?" Said Davina.
"No, look at it. Who wears this in this century." Said Kol.
"Something is off about her. She excaped such a fire and without a single burn?" Agreed Klaus.
"I told you people understimate uncle Kol. He is very smart." Said Audrey. Kol smiles at her.
"So we are right?" Asked Klaus.
"Kind of. You'll see." Said Hope.
Hope: Is she a survivor?
Audrey: Smells like it.
Alaric: I think she's in shock. Look, I need to get her to the police so she she can get some medical attention. Uh, why don't you two go ahead? Don't engage. We don't know how dangerous Landon is.
"Is he really excpecting them to do nothing after they find him? Did he lost his brain in future?" Said Damon.
Rafael: He's not dangerous...
Alaric: I said don't engage.
Audrey: Come on. [Audrey, Rafael and Hope leave.]
Alaric: I need to get you some help. If you want to follow me. [Alaric gives woman a hand, she takes it.]
SALVATORE SCHOOL GROUND-DAY
Dorian: All right, guys. Let's have a good, clean, entirely uneventful game.
"Go back to Audrey and Hope!" Protested Hayley.
"No one cares about stupid game!" Said Davina.
Connor: Like we do every year when we beat your asses down.
Dorian: Not exactly the spirit, Kyle.
Man: Oh. All right, call in the air. Tails never fails.
Dorian: Guess not. Your ball. Shake hands and let's do this.
Man: Go. Huddle, huddle.
Josie: Kaleb. Come on, suck it up. We have to go through this every year, okay?
Kaleb: I was being recruited by D1 schools before I got here, all right? I don't lose.
"I would rather stab myself than lose with those morons." Said Audrey.
"No stabbing ourselves!" Said Hayley. Audrey chuckles.
Josie: Hey. You do today. Okay?
Lizzie: Good luck out there.
Dana: Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.
Lizzie: I'm pretty sure I've seen that on a poster at the dentist's.
"Oooh! Go, Liz!" Said Audrey.
"What is it?" Asked Stefan.
"Her father is dentist." Said Audrey.
Dana: Oh, my dad's a dentist, but he still made time to be here. I guess I'm lucky that way, huh? [Lizzie glares at her.]
Caroline glares at her, too.
FOREST-DAY
Audrey: Another reason why i hate Alaric. Who lets teen wonder around in forest looking for supposed dangerous creature and really excpect to not engege when the only reason they are here for is revenge?!
"Exactly!" Said Hayley, frustrated at Alaric.
Rafael: (to Hope) What exactly happened on that bus?
Hope: No one knows. It's like something incinerated it from the inside.
Rafael: Look, whatever he did, I know there's a good explanation. He's the most loyal friend that I've ever had. He was there for me on the worst day of my life. After my girlfriend died, he's the only thing that kept me going. So let me get that knife back for you and then we both hear him out, okay?
"He is loyal." Said Elijah in respect.
Audrey: I apprecate loyalty, but you are giving it to wrong person. And giving loyalty to wrong person might get you killed, love.
Klaus agreed.
Hope: Audrey's right. I appreciate the passion, but you should exert some of it making new friends.
Rafael: So I can be as popular and well-liked as you? Yeah, I've been at the school for two days and I've already heard all about Hope and Audrey Mikaelsons and their sunny disposition.
Mikaelsons glare at him. (Yes, i mean Hayley, Davina and Marcel, too. I mean them everytime i say Mikaelson if i don't say otherwise.)
[Audrey throws Rafael at tree with magic.]
Hope: Audrey!
Audrey: Watch how you talk to me or my sister! You know nothing about us. NOTHING! I'm the alpha and i decide who will join the pack. Are you sure you are ready to lose your chance of having pack, having family for that liar?! [Rafael opens his mouth to answer, but Audrey interrups.]
Audrey: I don't take disrespect good, so i would advice you to chose your words.
"I think i have heard Klaus say exact same words." Said Stefan.
[Rafael stands up and goes to Audrey.]
Rafael: I'll get you the stupid, not-stupid knife and the answers you want, okay? I promise.
"Why would she trust his promise?" Asked Freya.
Audrey: And why should I believe you?
Rafael: Because I don't lie. [Audrey and Hope chuckle.]
"Everybody lies." Said Klaus and Hayley. Hayley and Klaus look at each other surprised, Audrey and Hope laugh.
Audrey&Hope: Everybody lies.
"Like parents like daughters." Chuckled Kol.
Hope: He's in the root cellar. You have three minutes to do this your way. [Audrey smirks.]
"What's that smirk?" Asked Marcel.
"That's i know what Hope plans smirk." Said Audrey.
Rafael: Wait, the headmaster said don't engage.
Audrey: Two minutes, 59.
Hope: Two minutes, 58. [Rafael runs in root cellar.]
Audrey: You plan to go in early, don't you?
Hope: (smirks) Of course.
Kol chuckles at his nieces.
ROOT CELLAR-DAY
Landon: Raf? Holy hell. [They hug.]
Landon: How did you find me?
Rafael: There's, um, a-a lot of crazy witchy people looking for you. There's a bus full of burned-up people... That wasn't me.
Audrey: Then who was it?
Rafael: You said three minutes.
Hope: Like we said, people lie. Corporis impetu. [Hope throws Landon at wall and keeps him in air.]
Rafael: Hey!
Hope: Where's the knife?
Landon: I don't have it. I must've lost it when I ran.
Audrey: After you burned the bus?
Landon: That wasn't me, I swear. I barely got out alive.
"Then what? It burned itself?" Said Klaus.
"Or the woman. Like you said she is suspicious." Said Elijah.
Rafael: Hope, come on.
Hope: Last chance. Who the hell was it? Landon: There was this girl...
[Woman and Alaric are walking in forest. Alaric is calling when woman snatches his phone.]
Alaric: Do you need to make a phone call? [Woman puts phone in her clothes.]
Alaric: Wait, wait, that's mine. Can I have that... [Woman steals Alaric's watch.]
"Okay. She is seriously creepy." Said Caroline.
Alaric: Hey. That-that-that's my watch. [Woman turns around and starts leaving.]
Alaric: Hey, Miss, wait, wait, Miss, I... [Alaric grabs the woman's hand, woman throws fire out of her mouth. Alaric jumps out of the way.]
"Pyromanser?" Asked Freya.
"What is she doing it Mystic falls?" Asked Kol.
SALVATORE SCHOOL GROUND- DAY
[Crowd is cheering, cheerleaders are chanting. Game is about to start.]
Lizzie: Remember the game plan, Kaleb.
Kaleb: Girl, I used to eat townie scrubs like this for lunch. That's before I was a vampire. [Whistle goes off and game starts. Kaleb hits the ball and Connor caughs it. Connor runs around and passes it to Dana. MG pretends to fall. Connor pushes Kaleb. Danan brings ball to finsih line. Coach blows the whistle.]
Lizzie: Nice moves, Dana.
Dana: I know I'm supposed to do this in the end zone, but... [Dana throws ball down and Laughs.]
"I don't like her!" Said Caroline.
[Dana walks away and Josie jogs to Lizzie.]
Josie: That went well, all things considered.
Lizzie: One word. One word and I could burn her perky little boobs to ash.
Damon and Kol laugh. Stefan's lips twitch. Caroline looks amused.
Josie: Hey, but we're not gonna do that today. Today of all days, right?
[MG goes to Penelope to get water.]
Penelope: For the record, the nerdling approach never got any dude anywhere.
MG: Okay, you're lucky that I'm still talking to you after that stunt you pulled last night, kissing me like that.
Penelope: I was giving you what you wanted.
MG: No, you were taking a shot at Josie, and when someone other than Lizzie takes a shot at Josie, they tend to wake up with scabies. You ever have scabies before? They're nasty.
Penelope: So Lizzie's mad at you? Meaning she sees you for a change?
"She planned it?" Asked Davina.
MG: So you did that on purpose?
Penelope: I do everything on purpose.
"Told you. Kathrine." Said Damon.
"You don't have to be Kathrine to plan ahead." Said Audrey.
Penelope: Look, if Lizzie Saltzman is what you want, I can help you get her. But you're gonna have to do exactly what I say.
MG: What's in it for you?
Penelope: Does a girl have to have a motive to do charity work?
"Didn't she just she does everything on purpose?" Said Marcel.
Penelope: Next play, impress me.
Dorian: All right, way to go, Stallions. Let's keep it up, let's keep it up. [Cell phone is buzzing. Dorian answers.]
FOREST/SALVATORE SCHOOL-DAY
Dorian: (over phone) A pyromancer?
Alaric: A woman who smelled like she'd been dipped in an ashtray and breathed fire instead of words. What else could she be?
Dorian: There are only a couple dozen left, most are in East Asia.
"That's why i wonder what is one foing in Mystic falls." Said Kol.
Alaric: Well, now there's one wandering around the woods off Route 29.
Dorian: All right, I'm on it. I'll call you back when I figure out how you can restrain her without getting barbecued.
Alaric: She stole my phone. I'll have to get back to you.How are the girls doing?
Dorian: Oh, they're-they're killing it. (Chuckles) By not killing it.
Alaric: Great. I will be in touch. Thank you so much. You're a lifesaver.
SALVATORE SCHOOL GROUND-DAY
[Whistle blows. Salvatore school children have hands placed at each other.]
Lizzir: All right, I just want to take a minute to let you know how proud I am. You're all doing a great job.
Kaleb: We're getting our asses kicked.
Josie: Which means we're doing a great job.
"I amost pity them." Said Damon.
MG: What's the play?
Lizzie: Same one as always. Run around, make it look like you know what you're doing, then fail. [They stand in their positions.]
Lizzie: On three. [Lizzie is holding ball.]
Dana: One Mississippi, two Mississippi, three Mississippi...
Josie: Pass it, I'm open.
Dana: ...four Mississippi, five Mississippi!  [Dana runs at Lizzie. Lizzie passes ball at MG before she falls. MG scores the goal. Crowd cheers. Whistle blows.]
"Go MG!" Cheered Audrey.
Kaleb: Pow, pow, pow! Let's go! [They do kind of a handshake. Lizzie walks up to MG.]
Lizzie: MG, what the hell do you think you're doing?
Dana: Pretty obvious, isn't it? He's saving your ass. Nice hands. [MG smiles.]
ROOT CELLAR/FOREST-DAY
Hope: I don't believe anything you say.
Landon: You have every right to be mad at me, but I am telling you the truth. Come on man, help me.
Rafael: I believe him.
"You are biased." Said Marcel.
"So are Hope and Audrey." Said Davina.
"For right reasons." Said Klaus.
Audrey: Did i ask?
Hope: You believe that a fire-breathing woman burned the bus alive?
Rafael: Yeah.
"It doesn't change he stole the knife!" Said Kol.
Hope: And Landon happened to be spared?
Rafael: He told you that he ran.
Audrey: And conveniently lost the knife on the way.
Rafael: Yes. [Audrey rolls her eyes.]
Landon: She kept coming at me like she was gonna take it from me. She was burning everything in her path.
Hope: You want to explain to me what you were doing stealing the knife in the first place?
Landon: I don't remember stealing it.
Audrey: (scoffs) Of course not.
"I have a feeling he is telling truth." Admitted Caroline.
"And what happened? He was compelled? Oh, right, he can't be compelled." Said Damon.
Hope: How about pretending to be compelled?
Landon: That was to avoid being thrown back in the werewolf dungeon.
Hope: Transitional cellar.
Landon: Small spaces. [Landon tries to walk up to Hope, but backs up when Audrey growls.]
Elijah, Klaus and Hayley smile at Audrey's protectinvess.
Landon: Hope, you have to understand, Dr. Saltzman had already told me the school wasn't gonna let me stay.
Audrey: My sister doesn't have to do anything! Excpecially for you!
Klaus agreed.
Landon: (to Hope) If he thought I'd talk, he'd lock me back up. There wasn't a good ending for me. I didn't want to steal from you and I don't want a fire-breather chasing me. I'm sorry for all of it.
Rafael: He's not lying. I know him.
"You think you do." Corrected Klaus.
Audrey: You think you do.
Klaus and Audrey smiled at saying same thing.
Rafael: If he says that there's a fire-breathing woman running through the woods, then there is a... [Alaric enters the cellar.]
Alaric: There's a fire-breathing woman running through the woods.
"Good timing." Chuckled Damon.
Alaric: Did I or did I not say "don't engage"?
Audrey: Since when do i listen to rules?
Hope: He's only dangerous if crappy apologies can kill.
Alaric: Looks can be deceiving. Now our bus refugee, turns out she's a pyromancer.
Landon: Wait, wh-what's a pyromancer?
Audrey&Hope: A fire-breathing witch.
Hope: Ric, she wants the knife.
Alaric: Okay, well, where is it?
Landon: I-I lost it in the woods. I was running around in circles all night trying to find a place to hide.
"He is lying." Said Klaus and Elijah.
"I knew, but Alaric was there, so i couldn't do much." Said Audrey.
Alaric: Okay, okay. Well, let's, uh, find it before she does, huh?
[Alaric, Audrey, Hope and Rafael get out of cellar. They see woman. She is growling.]
Alaric: We don't want any trouble. [The woman is reaching her hand out.]
Rafael: What does she want?
Landon: I don't know.
Audrey: (raises her eyebrow) Are you sure about that?
Rafael: Lan?
Hope: Maybe she wants the knife you said you don't have.
People glare at Landon.
Alaric: Back in the cellar, go. Go, go, go, go. [They go down the cella. Woman throws out fire out of her mouth.]
Hope: Where the hell is it?
Landon: I'm sorry. I panicked. [Landon gives Hope the knife.]
"And you say he is good guy?" Asked Klaus.
"You will see." Repeated Audrey.
Rafael: What the hell, Lan?
Alaric: Hope, the doors.
Hope: Got it. Adiuuatur.
Alaric: Okay, it's a quick fix. It won't last long. All right, great, I need a cell phone. [Landon shows him cell phones and wallets.]
"How is Rafael gonna protect him now?" Asked Freya.
Landon: Take your pick.
Hope: What is all this? [Rafael picks up someone's Id.]
Rafael: It's from the people on the bus.
Landon: I didn't bring it here. I...
Hope: If he says "I swear" one more time, I'm gonna melt him.
Audrey: (to Hope) I love when you are like this.
"I do." Grinned Audrey.
