Wave's POV:

As I settled into our new home, I took the opportunity in helping my mom make dinner when August walked in with his girlfriend Aurora, greeting my mother and I. It had been months since they had last seen each other, as she was no longer just a long-distance girlfriend. Her soft smile was evident when she waved, and I could see the genuine love and happiness radiating from her.

My mother looked up from the Pinterest recipe I had found for tamales, soaking the corn husks in a hot bowl of water. She waved back at Aurora, welcoming her into our home with a gentle hug.

"Ay, there she is! Mi hija, it's so lovely to finally meet you. How are you, my dear?" My mother exclaimed as she entered the room. Aurora smiled and appreciated our mother's warm demeanor before replying, "I'm well, thank you, Jeanne. I'm so glad to finally meet you guys face to face."

My mother was just in awe. I could just see that look on her face, and it honestly makes me happy that this family of mine is making more connections. As the two chatted, Aurora's gaze fell on me as she smiled and to my excitement, I couldn't help but return the same smile as well before pulling each other in for a tight embrace.

I had always been fond of my new big sister-in-law. Even though we had only met through FaceTime when she was still in France, we got along just fine. We would talk about anything and everything that came to mind, from our hobbies to skincare products, our favorite singers and celebrities to our personal struggles, and of course, girl gossip. And perhaps, some things that I don't think I should say... (Guilty!) But most of all—boys. It was just like any normal conversation between two girls.

As we continued with dinner preparations, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the bond and friendship that had formed between my mother and Aurora. It was heartwarming to see how easily she had accepted her into our family, making her feel loved and welcomed. And I knew that from that moment on, Aurora would always be a part of our family, no matter the distance or the language barriers.

As August and Aurora made their way upstairs to watch a movie, I couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment. Despite the moving and stuff, having my family by my side always brings me a sense of joy and comfort. Makes me forget about why I was even upset about the whole situation with us living here.

Meanwhile, my mother and I were still in the kitchen, cooking up some of our other favorite dishes. I couldn't help but playfully roll my eyes as I watched Tyler playing a video game on the TV in the living room. That boy was an addict for video games and mischief, but I know he has some good qualities too, even though they may not always be apparent.

As we finished cooking, my father made his way downstairs and was immediately greeted by the delicious smell of food. I could see the happiness in his eyes as he savored the scent. "I smell fooood!" He grinned with a soft chuckle.

He always loved my mother's cooking, and I knew he couldn't wait to dig in. He walked towards my mother, kissing her on the cheek before making his way to me and placing a kiss on my forehead. It was a small gesture, but it meant the world to me. My parents' love and affection for each other and for our family always warms my heart. I couldn't be more grateful for such a loving and supportive family.

As I sat at the dinner table, surrounded by my family, I couldn't help but feel overwhelmed with love and contentment. It was a rare occasion for all of us to be gathered together, with our busy schedules and individual lives pulling us in different directions. But tonight, we were all here, sharing a meal and catching up on each other's lives.
