Ranking books, short stories and works of poetry,
Is like asking which child of yours you love most closely,
Yet I find myself writing voraciously to please an algorithm,
Spewing out half truths to you as rhythmic daily aphorisms,

I think I should take a break from life, zone out from concentration,
Worry less about what others think of me by way of their perception,
But before I do let me spin one more yarn to contemplate,
About a man destined to suffer and his refusal to hate,

Farlo was a lovelorn soul that spent his days alone,
He carelessly lost the love of his life, now he must atone,
His solitude has spanned a generation and then some,
With no chance for reconciliation with disability as his income,

For in this day and age you can't live on love solely,
You need to make six figures or more to live in matrimony,
Then one day the man woke up on the right side of his bed,
Said to himself I'm alive and must search all corners of my head,

For an answer to his broken heart and how to heal his wound,
The solution lives in heaven above but I'm earthbound marooned,
So he took to building a craft that would carry him on a quest,
For answers to all humanitarian troubles and their distress,

The day arrived when the man was to take off for outer space,
His ship laden with computers and provisions for new home base,
The mighty rail gun track sling shot him out of our stratosphere,
That's when plasma ion impulse took over, it was time to crack a beer,

For the journey ahead was something surely to celebrate,
He was finally on his way to outliving his earthbound fate,
One thing he did not take account for on this heavenly Star Trek,
Was meeting interstellar interlopers causing a space wreck,

The unidentified alien object took aim and shot Farlos spacecraft down,
Luckily for him he coasted to Mars where he made a safe touchdown,
It was there despite his knowledge he was shocked that he could breathe,
There were other people already there, they'd taken refuge underneath,

The surface of the planets red soil in hollowed out homes,
They were a leftover population from civilization that roamed,
Many eons ago they magneto sailed to their neighbouring planet,
Where they spawned a new way of life on its water surrounded granite,

Learning of this, Farlo realized he'd found the oldest family tree,
Shock and awe upon his face he spoke his mind happily,
What other wonders can you tell me of here where life began,
Were you left here on purpose or was it part of a greater plan?

It seems they were originally a crew of the final flight that planned to leave also,
Mechanical problems stood in their way and it grew too late to signal first to go,
They had passed the point of no return so they had to sadly strand them,
And natural resources to build new ships had depleted to their end,

Eventually over time Martian population grew in numbers,
Waiting patiently for a day when old friends came home unencumbered,
But it seems they'd have to settle for me and my technology,
Maybe they could repair my ship and reunite on earth with glee,

In return they could use their powers to fix my broken heart,
I could go home with riches and win back the right to my part,
In my beloved family and we could live as one together,
My story would sell millions and for once there'd be no pressure,

People of earth would finally know of their true origin,
Their ancestral homeland much more than a country foreign,
We actually are the aliens we have been falsely conditioned to fear,
This news has surely made you feel most elated while shedding a tear.
