I could hear someone shuffling inside of the elevator, almost panicking.
(Dr. Smith, from inside the elevator: "What!? What how, who are you? WHERE are you!?")
That sounds like Dr. Smith! It sounds like he's okay and I imagine he's confused. I wonder if maybe we don't need to sedate him. Maybe if I tell him it's safe to come out, we can speed things up a bit. If I focus, I think I can say it without stuttering.
"It's safe! Just come out, you'll be fine. I promise!"
I could hear more shuffling from inside of the elevator.
(Dr. Smith, from inside the elevator: "WHAT IS THIS!? How are you talking, what is going on out there!? What do you mean it's SAFE!? HOW ARE YOU TALKING TO ME!??")
That barrage of questions, while understandable, definitely overloaded me. I don't even know where to start! I mean, if only he could see that it was me out here then maybe....oh, right...I'm an oversized leopard gecko stuffed inside of a yellow suit looking like a hunchback...
I don't know what I was thinking! Seeing me would only make him panic and there's no telling what might happen!
"Hopefully the s-sedative gas works..."
I quietly thought out loud while glancing up at the security camera monitoring the elevators. As if on queue, I heard a 'thud' in the elevator.
"Dr. Smith!? C-can you hear me?"
I pressed the side of my face against the elevator doors and I couldn't hear anything, so I think he might be out cold. I pressed the call button to the right of the elevator, but nothing happened. I looked back up at the security camera while trying again.
(Rene, popping her head out of the security room: "Just another second! The elevator is on lock down and Sam should have it open in a moment!")
I could hear the door slam shut just as she finished. I glanced back up at the security camera and nodded to let her know I heard her. After another moment, I heard a ding and the call button illuminated. I quickly pressed it and then the doors started opening.
I quickly reached in and grabbed him by the armpits and dragged him out of the elevator. Didn't want to risk the doors closing and having us both locked up in there. As soon as I got him off the elevator I looked down at his face and reached for the cap of the syringe.
Next thing I knew, my whole body felt like it was on fire. I dropped the syringe on the ground before I could uncap it and felt myself thrust toward Dr. Smith. I was pressing my nose against his and I could feel a cool wet substance pouring out of my nostrils against the inside of my hazmat visor.
Nothing I did would make it stop, my body just flat out won't listen to me! The heat I'm feeling is almost unbearable but, not quite close to the embarrassment I feel having my face this close to Dr. Smith's! I swear I feel like I'm going to break, this isn't good!!
Just as I felt like I was going to blackout, I was suddenly able to pull myself away from Dr. Smith. As soon as I did, I scooted myself to the far wall. I stared at him from there, still startled from the weird feeling that forced me onto him like that.
Dr. Smith grumbled and groaned a bit, which snapped me out of my daze.
"Oh right, the s-sedative!"
I quickly scurried over to the syringe on the floor, uncapped it, stuck the business end into his shoulder, and pushed in the plunger. I could almost immediately see the tension leave his body as the sedative injection took over.
After taking a moment to catch my breath, I grabbed ahold of his armpits and started dragging him to sick bay. I have to say, this new body is not only stronger, but I feel like my grip is much improved too!
When we reached the door to the sick bay, I gently laid him back down. I noticed something on the floor light up from the direction we came, I think it might be Dr. Smith's cell phone. I'll need to remember to go pick it up after I get him inside.
I turned to the door and punched in the code. As soon as the door opened, I bent down and grabbed him by the armpits and dragged him inside. I got him close to the bed and climbed up in order to gain some leverage. I started pulling him up when I felt my suited foot lose grip and I fell, with Dr. Smith landing on top of me.
In a heavy panic now, I quickly pushed him off of me and stood up. His head and upper torso were mostly on the bed now, so I grabbed his feet and hoisted the rest of him onto it.
I took a step back and watched for a moment to make sure he was still breathing. He seemed to be fine, just sound asleep. I turned on my heel and made my way out the door, closing and quarantine locking it.
"I guess now I'll go g-grab his cell phone and m-meet up with Rene!"
