AS VERONICA WAS TALKING TO ERIN     about how amazing their performance was and all that, there was someone making their way onto the stage and upon taking a closer look, Veronica noticed that Cole had taken the mic and was now cheering the crowd on, while also boosting her father's ego even more as he threw the football over to him.

"What's he doing up there?" Erin asked as she too watched what was happening with confusion but also admiration.

Veronica shook her head, looking at the stage in confusion, "I have no idea."

Cole started off with motivating everyone to support the auditorium renovation project and then to everyone's shock he auctioned himself off? Well, Veronica always knew that Cole had the potential to sell himself off but that he would actually do it one day? That was unexpected.

As he listed all of the things he would be doing for the person who bid the highest for him, Veronica couldn't help the disbelief being written on her face. She would have never guessed that Cole would sell himself off for charity and just the mere action of him announcing it on stage, it was like a movie, it didn't seem real.

But what was the strangest thing in all of this? you may ask.

People were actually bidding for him. Veronica couldn't believe that they went over the hundred dollar mark and then Mrs. Mutschnick of all people was the one to buy Cole for five hundred dollars.

Oh, she knew Cole would never let her live that down. Shaking her head Veronica turned to Erin to see the same disbelief she was feeling mirrored on her face and she had to chuckle at that. "Can you believe what just happened?" the black haired girl asked in between laughter.

Erin shook her head, now laughing too as she thought about how surreal all of this was. "I honestly think I'm dreaming. Can you please pinch me so I know this is all real?"

"Okay, ow, not so hard," Erin complained, rubbing the spot Veronica had pinched. "Anyway, are you going to the party?"

Veronica shook her head. "I don't think so. I have to go to the game tomorrow so I'll probably go to sleep early. Oh, wait, my dad's over there he asked me to help pack some things up. I'll see you, E." The two girls hugged and Veronica went off to catch her dad before he could once again disappear into the crowd.

"Hey, Cole," Veronica shouted as she spotted him in the parking lot, while lifting the last box into her dad's truck.

The boy walked over to her, a somber expression on his face. "Hi, Vee. What's up?"

The black girl looked up at him and brushed his hair a bit to the side. "Nothing, I just wanted to talk to my boyfriend in private for a second."

Cole smirked at her words, leaning down to place a kiss on her lips, at first softly but then the desire for the other grew stronger and stronger with each passing second. Finally, a bit out of breath, Veronica pulled away but still kept Cole close to her. There was no-one  in the parking lot, she knew it. Everyone was off, watching the game or back at home to rest after the long day of endless shouting at the homecoming.

They enjoyed the silence that settled over them, both entranced in the eyes of the other. "Are you going to the party later?" Veronica asked Cole, finally taking a step back as a car came closer.

The boy shook his head, "Probably not, Jackie invited me to eat some pizza with your brother and that other girl, Grace, I think. Are you going?"

Veronica couldn't help but drop the smile as he told her that Jackie was the one to invite him. Sure, the girl probably only wanted to thank him for having helped with the auction but she couldn't help but assume that she had other intentions too. "No, I'm gonna sleep early, I promised to be at yours at six to braid Parker's hair more beautifully than I have ever done. Her words, not mine."

Cole chuckled at that, he knew that Parker was exactly the person to say something like that. "Then we'll see each other tomorrow and be prepared, you're gonna have popcorn in your hair for the next five years."

The girl chuckled at that and shoved him, "Just you wait."

In the distance someone shouted Cole's name, forcing him to leave her after giving her a quick peck on the lips. "See you tomorrow, Colie-bear."

He rolled his eyes at the nickname, but for the first time didn't fight it and just waved her goodbye.
