Author Note:

It's been a while. It's near the end of the year, while life threw me some life-changing experiences, I think I should be thankful for everything that happens.

Thank you for those who checked in and wrote me messages, I am still alive, it is just in this few months too challenging for me to write. Hopefully I can finish this before the year ends.

Boruto bites his lips anxiously as he paces around his room.

Stupid, stupid, stupid...

He was going to apologize, yet his stupid mouth... Why did he even say that...

He sighed as he looked through his window, accepted his lost opportunity for any decent apology to his father.

"He must be thinking that I am such an ungrateful brat. Well, he isn't wrong for thinking that..."

Naruto blinked as Boruto swiftly ran upstairs before he sighed, looking at the chopped onions dejectedly.

"I am such a terrible father, huh?"

"Naruto-kun?"

He looked up to see his beautiful wife walked to him with a smile.

"I am home, Naruto-kun."

"Welcome home, Hinata."

Hinata smiled but then she noticed the hidden sadness.

"Is everything okay?"

Naruto sighed, carefully put the chopped onions into the pot. He silently stirred the pot with a wooden spoon, put some salts and gently closed the pot with a lid with a faraway look. Hinata looked at her husband silently, knowing he was thinking about something.

"Is it about Boruto? I saw him enter the house from across the street."

Naruto hummed softly, "Am I a terrible father?"

"Why would you say that?"

"It seems so, at least that's what I see. Well, I am not surprised. I don't really have a father in my whole life to begin with. No wonder Boruto hates me."

Naruto opened the lid of the pot, stirred the boiling broth a few times before he closed the stove.

Hinata held his hands and guided him to sit at the table. "I doubt he hates you."

"Well, I don't blame him if he does. I am terrible at everything. I am not a good example fo-"

Hinata put a finger on his lips. "I know my son. Boruto doesn't hate you. You do believe in me, right?"

Naruto gently removed his wife's finger. "Of course, but I-"

"Papa!"

Naruto looked up to see Himawari ran to the dining table. "Did you cook? It smells amazing! Can we eat now?"

"Well, I am... Err..."

Hinata chuckled. "Well, how about we all go wash up and ready for dinner? Go upstairs to tell your brother dinner will be ready in a few minutes."
