Chikorita woke up before Pikachu, and she decided to have a look around. She walked back through the bush she came from and down the trail of trampled grass. She could hear distant voices. She could not hear what they were saying, and she was curious, so she followed the strange voices.
She peeked through the tall grass and saw two people: a boy and a woman. The boy looked scared or worried, and it seemed as though the woman was trying to calm him down. The boy was looking in all directions.
"Don't worry, I'm sure we'll find him," the woman said.
"What if something happened to him?" the boy began to panic.
"I'm sure he can manage on his own for a few days." said the woman.
Chikorita was very confused. She didn't know what they were talking about. She shrugged and walked back to the stream.
When she returned, Pikachu was already awake. When he saw her, he gave a sigh of relief. He thought she had run away. "Pika pika?" he asked her where she went.
Chikorita told him all about the boy and how he was looking for someone, and Pikachu was sure it was Ash. He told Chikorita that he was going to check it out, and off he ran into the woods.
