"You must be mistaken, Malika wouldn't do such a thing" Zaid said, I looked at him death in the eye "She drugged the pancake-" I started sitting up
"But I ate the pancakes too and its the same mix" Zaid said defending Malika, he think I am lying, why would I lie about such a thing
"You don't believe me? If you think I am lying then don't you go and ask her?" I said raising my voice slightly
"I will not ask her because I know she will not do such a thing" he said with a soft tone but there's an edge to it
"Don't but tell her to wait for me, i will come for her and she will tell me who gave her the fucking audacity to-" i said angrily but Aunty Ayse came in and I shut my mouth
"Are you guys arguing" she asked looking between me and Zaid "No" we said at the same time "He is leaving" i said
"But he just came" Aunt said "I will stay with her for the night" Zaid said looking at me in the eyes, "I don't want you here, please leave" I said again angrily
"Nadia, what are you doing? He is your husband and he will stay" Aunt declared "Okay, he can stay but I am leaving because I can't stand being in the same space with him" i said moving to remove the drip line from my hand
Zaid stopped me looking hurt "Okay, I will leave and i will come back tomorrow" Zaid said with emotions I couldn't read
"No don't, you are not needed here" i said bitterly turning my head around, Aunt opened her mouth to say something but she changed her mind
"I will come back tomorrow" Zaid said to aunt who nod at him giving him a sympathetic smile, he left leaving me with Aunt
"What was that?" She asked almost immediately, "Just husband wife quarrel, Nothing serious" i said lying down turning my head to the side
Aunty Ayse didn't push it, she sighed and hand me my phone, there's a lot of missed calls from Mami, Baba and Ya Muhammad
"Did you tell them?" I quickly ask Aunt "No but I told Muhammad, he will be here soon" Ya Muhammad left for port harcourt today and he is already coming back, leaving his work because of this
I nod as I call Mami, she noticed the change in the voice, asking me if I am sick, I told her I am okay "is Zaid giving you a hard time? Are you not happy?" She asked worried
"No he is not and I am happy, I just woke up from sleep that's why and my head is hurting so bad" I lied
"Okay, make sure to take meds, if there's any thing please tell me" Mami said voice laced with worry
"I'm okay seriously, don't worry. I miss you so much" I said in a baby voice pouting "we will be back in 2 weeks in shaa Allah but if you want we will come back before that"
"No,No it is okay" i said, baba came in and we talked for a while then said good night
Ya Muhammad came in with labiba following him "How are you princess?" Ya Muhammad asked clearly worried as he hugged me
"Better Alhamdulillah" i said "On a scale of 1 to 10, how are you?" He asked again breaking the hug "7" I said and he nod patting my head
"Nadyy" Labiba said crying, her eyes looks so red, I pulled her into a hug "heyy stop crying" I said breaking the hug, "I'm okay now, look" i said and she nod silently crying
"Where's Zaid?" Ya Muhammad asked "I asked him to go and rest at home" "He went to get something from the doctor" Aunt and I said at the same time
Ya Muhammad looked at us weirdly "He just left" i said softly and he nodded, I feel relieved that he didn't ask anything again
We talked for hours, i was silent most of the time, they do the talking and I give them answers here and there
Aunt and Ya Muhammad left leaving me and Labiba, "What happened? You are hiding something" Labiba said looking same into my eyes
I told her everything from the day at Ammi to today, she was foaming with anger "Wtf, Nadia ki bari na kira su Halimatu muje muyi mata dukan tsiya, I don't care ko ubn waye ita. I am mad at Zaid kuma, so disappointing" Biba said angrily
"Calm down, we can't solve everything with violence, I will handle it. Just don't tell anyone" i said softly "Haba Nadia" Labiba started but i shh her "Enough, I am tired and sleepy already"
