By mid evening the preparations were complete, and just in time.
"Are you okay?" Asked Honey, lying down beside Marigold.
"Yeah," she said. "I think... it's happening soon."
Marigolds eyes suddenly appeared glazed over, as if she was going into a trance.
Honey saw this and ran to find the others.
"It's happening!" She shouted, alerting all the other dragons on the island.
They all immediately abandoned their tasks and came running towards Marigold and Honey, just in time to see the flamesilk spill from the glands in Marigolds wrists and enclose her in a cocoon.
"That was amazing," Reef breathed. He had never seen flamesilk or a SilkWing go into a cocoon.
"Well," said Honey, "I'll find a cave or something for her cocoon."
"Ok," says Croc, glancing at Wild. "Wild? Can I talk to you? Alone?" He added with a glance at Reef, Stella, Kimber, and Honey.
"Sure."
Croc led Wild over to a thicket of bushes.
"Ok, hear me out..." he began.
"Nope," said Wild, turning to leave.
"Wait!" Croc said, grabbing her arm.
"Fine," she said begrudgingly. "I'll hear you out."
"Good," he said.
He turned towards the bushes and moved to pull some of them aside.
"I've been seeing Sundew." He said, pulling them aside to reveal the crouching green LeafWing.
"Nope," Wild said, again turning to leave.
"Hear me out!" He exclaimed. "She's just trying to keep us safe! She told me to stand guard over you guys while you sleep to keep you safe."
Wild looked at him skeptically.
"Please don't tail anyone," he begged. "They'll kill me!"
"Ok," said Wild, "I knew she was following us, but I didn't know she spoke to you."
"Really?" Said Sundew, finally speaking. "I was being quite sneaky."
"Do you want me ti take over watch tonight?" Asked Wild, turning to Croc.
"Yes please!" He said gratefully. "Four hours less sleep can catch up with you really easily."
They hear a rustling in the bushes.
"Quickly! Hide!" Croc hissed, shoving Sundew behind the bush.
"Hi guys!" Said Honey, popping out of the bush. "I found a nice, dry cave for Marigold."
"Where?" Asks Wild curiously.
"I'll show you! Come on!" Said Honey cheerfully.
She leads them to a cave close to the sea but not close enough to get wet in a high tide.
Croc slumps down on the floor.
"Ah, stone. I love stone," he said, before promptly falling asleep.
"Croc?" Wild says, shaking him awake.
"Huh? What?" Croc says.
Wild laughs.
"Let's get you to the sleeping cave."
"Ok," he says.
The rest of the dragons followed, except Honey.
"I think I'll sleep in here." She says, gesturing towards the cocoon.
"Ok," says Wild, before leading everyone to the sleeping cave.
The dragons settled down, with Wild keeping watch at the main sleep cave and Sundew just outside the cocoon cave.
