"I'm glad you finally got a mic, it's been such a pain having to look at the chat all the time bro," Rui said as his avatar met up with Tomura's.
"Yeah yeah, there's no way I wouldn't've eventually with all your nagging, Rui," Tomura replied. "But are you sure you're okay? What the hell was that bastard making you do for an entire two days?!"
"Uh, haha, let's focus on the game, I already said it's fine," Rui tried to redirect their focus, but obviously the villain was not having it.
"Rui, don't try and hide it from me, it just makes me more anxious, my neck is gonna go raw," He grumbled, causing the boy to gasp.
"Don't threaten self harm! That's so toxic it's actually not even funny, Tomura."
"I can't help it," Tomura said, his voice softer than before. "I need you here to make me stop. Kurogiri doesn't care, Master encourages it because it just makes me angrier, so you're the only one that can stop me from itching. Come back to me, Rui."
"I..." Rui broke off, taking a deep but shaky breath. "I wish I could, I really do, but I just can't. I'm scared, Tomura, really scared. Um," He gulped quickly, knowing he was going to regret telling his gaming buddy this information, but he also needed him to understand. "My brother has a quirk that can take things apart in an instant if he touches them, and his range is pretty wide, so if he touches the floor, he can tear apart an entire house if he really put his mind to it, all in an instant. I don't want you to get hurt, which is why I can't tell you where I am. There's also..." He trailed off, and right before Tomura could comment, Rui finished his thought. "He threatened that if I try and leave him again, he'll take my legs and I'll never be able to walk again."
"He said WHAT?!" Rui flinched at the high volume over his headphones.
"You get it now, right?" the brunette murmured with a sad smile. Tomura could almost picture what his face looked like right then, and it made him want to go get him and keep him safe from that horrible guardian brother of his. But, as Rui had said, he did understand now. Whoever Rui's brother was, he was incredibly powerful, more so than Tomura at least.
But not more so than his master.
But master is still healing, so that isn't an option, Tomura thought to himself as he refocused on the game they were playing. I'll ask, though, just to be sure that master knows. Maybe this new information will even give him a clue as to who this bastard is.
For the rest of the night, the two gamed together, not spending much more time talking about reuniting, but there were mentions here and there. They were a good team, as always, and the fact that Tomura now had a microphone was a huge help. Eventually though, Rui had to sign off because he heard Kai coming. "Oh right, remember to watch the sports festival!"
"Don't worry, I won't miss it," Tomura promised with a slight smile. It would be the only glimpse of Rui he would be able to get for a while, so of course he wouldn't miss the chance. He was also scouting the next generation of heroes, but he didn't need to tell Rui that.
With that, Rui logged off and took off his headphones, leaping into the bed and turning on the TV to a random fixer upper show right before Kai opened the door. "Oh, hey Kai," Rui greeted like he hadn't heard him coming, smiling widely.
"Hi Rui," Kai returned the greeting, coming over and pressing his lips to his forehead. "Ready for bed?"
"You know it," Rui giggled, making room for his guardian on the bed as Kai stripped down to his pants.
"I'll let you off for today since I know you have the sports festival tomorrow," Kai told him when he slipped under the covers next to him. "We can make up for it since you get the next few days off, right?"
"Yep," Rui smiled, though it was more like a grimace. Sure, sex with Kai had felt pretty good, beyond good actually, but the memory of how tired he was and how worn out he got was not exactly pleasant.
"Sleep, Rui," Kai put a hand over the boy's eyes, causing Rui to hum and cuddle into him more, falling asleep within seconds as he activated his quirk. Kai watched him for a bit, just observing the rise and fall of his chest, how he opened his mouth and drooled a bit after a few minutes, and he couldn't help but feel warm as he hugged him closer.
Rui was his, his to touch, his to hold, his to kiss, his to fuck, all his, and he was going to keep it that way. Not even his obsession over Eri and her power was as strong as what he felt for Rui, and Kai knew if he had to make a choice between Rui or Eri, he would choose Rui in a heartbeat.
But Kai also knew that Rui was smart, so there wouldn't be a day where he would need to choose between them. The only way he would need to choose was if both of them ran away at the same time in different directions, and Rui knew what would happen if he even thought about running away again.
He was going to rebuild the Hassaikai with Eri's power, and he was going to spoil Rui rotten so that he would never want to even entertain the notion of leaving ever again. It was only a matter of time before all of that came to fruition, and Overhaul couldn't wait. With that last thought, the young leader of the hassaikai also allowed himself to drift off to sleep.
When he awoke, Rui was no longer next to him, like usual. As Kai prepare for the day, he felt himself have a change of heart. Perhaps I will watch the sports festival after all...
