T-T

Orange

The air is thick with unspoken fears,

As one soul reaches out through silent tears.

A plea for understanding, for solace sought,

In the darkness where truth is finally brought.

........................................................

As Blue walked through OddWorld, he kept an eye out for his friends. They had just finished the hunt, and Cyan had left to chase down the final two that had almost escaped through a rollercoaster of some sort.

At first, Blue had been worried that they might escape, but Red had reassured him that it only led to another dead end anyways.

Right now, Blue was trying to find Green while he waited for Cyan to finish up.

As Blue passed the large orange-colored slope, he saw Yellow exiting the cave at the top. Blue assumed that he must have tried to follow Cyan.

Blue could tell that Yellow was attracted to her, he just wasn't sure if Cyan felt the same way towards his friend. Despite this, he still looked over with a smile, ready to offer any words of comfort and assurance if need be.

Then he saw that Yellow had Orange by his side. Blue watched with surprise as the lizard-like monster limped out of the cave, holding his claws over his chest.

Blue rushed forward concerned. "Yellow! What happened? What is Orange doing here?" Blue asked the last question a little more quietly.

He remembered how Cyan had suggested they give Orange a small break by doing the one hunt without him. At the time, Blue had been slightly worried, as he didn't want to hurt the dino's feelings.

But now it seemed that more than just Orange's feelings had been hurt.

Yellow looked up at Blue, still holding Orange close. "He tried to help us out, and got hit by one of the carts in the ride."

Orange glanced at Blue with wide eyes, but didn't say anything. He didn't seem to be too badly hurt. At least, that's what it looked like.

Blue was certainly no expert, but he didn't want to take any more chances with Orange. The dino had been through so much recently.

"Well...let's get you taken care of then." Blue said, trying to sound reassuring as he patted Orange on the shoulder.

Orange nodded, looking down at the ground. "Er...thank you." He said.

Blue nodded, then gently lifted Orange up in his arms. Orange let out a surprised yelp, but didn't struggle as Blue brought him through the park.

Although all of the friends had gone to Odd World to finish up the hunt, Blue knew that they would probably need to go back to the Playplace. He turned to Yellow as he walked, meeting his eyes.

"Could you find Green for me? We're going back to the Playplace." He said, to which Yellow nodded, activating his propellor pack and taking off to go find the other Rainbow Friend.

The rest of the walk back through the park was very quiet. Blue was honestly a little nervous to bring up the subject of how they had left him behind, but knew that an explanation was definitely needed.

He took a deep breath, "You...uh, you know we only left you behind to help you out, right?" Blue asked nervously, speaking quickly.

Orange didn't look up at Blue, but hummed in response. Orange's mind seemed to be on something else, but Blue still decided to keep talking.

"Cyan said that it would be a good idea. Thought that you could use a break after last time." He said, gazing around at the park as he walked. Orange still didn't respond.

"Look, Orange...I can't even begin to imagine what it must have been like, to get caught on the receiving end of our...actions, but I can't help but notice that you've been different since then." Blue paused for a moment.

"Since I saved you." Blue finished. He slowed down his walking, wanting to finish the conversation before they left the park.

Orange sighed, still seeming to think about something.

"Can I...ask you something?" Orange asked slowly. Blue looked down at the lizard, who was looking away, probably deliberately.

Blue nodded. "Anything." He responded with confidence.

Orange was silent for a few seconds, and then spoke up again, his voice hesitant. "Do you...regret anything?" He asked softly.

Blue stopped walking entirely, standing just in front of the bridge. He thought to himself for a moment, thinking of a good, honest answer.

He thought about his friends. Green, who still didn't know what he was meant to be in this world, who often wondered if he had a purpose, Purple, who waited alone in the vents, thinking about where his family had gone, and even himself, questioning how they had even gotten to this point.

How had they fallen so low?

Blue didn't even remember. He...didn't even know what to regret.

"I...don't know." Blue settled for. It wasn't a perfect answer, but it was honest. "I know that everyone isn't exactly happy the way things are...but I don't even remember where we came from. What we did, who's to blame...it's all unclear to me."

Orange looked up at Blue, a strange look in his eyes. "I...could tell you." Orange said quietly, pushing himself out of Blue's grip and landing on the ground in front of him.

Blue looked down at Orange, surprised.

"You...you know what happened?" He asked in disbelief. Orange nodded slowly.

Blue crouched down to Orange's eye level, putting his hand on Orange's shoulder, trying to make him feel more secure. "Please...could you tell me? We need to know. This could change everything."

Orange seemed to hesitate, frozen in place as he looked into Blue's one eye, "I-I can...but you have to promise that you won't be mad." The smaller Rainbow Friend said with caution.

Blue grew nervous as he nodded eagerly. No matter how bad it was, he wanted to know. He needed to know. He was going to finally find out what had happened to his family.

He might even find his purpose.
