Sup.

I have a chapter finally *shoves into your hands*

.................................

Orangutan

Whispers of freedom cutting through the dark,

Promises made to ignite a spark.

"Don't do it," they say, voices filled with fear,

But a true friend's loyalty is always near.

Orange woke up to the noise of a loud beeping.

He sat up, realizing with a start that he had fallen asleep. Orange had tried not to. Not with Red around.

As he looked around, he saw the same lab that he had seen before. Except this time, he had been moved onto a different surface. A more comfortable one.

Orange glanced down, realizing that he was laying on a mattress. There was a thin sheet draped over him. His head was propped up on something soft, probably a small pillow.

He heard another beep. Orange tried to locate the source, and saw a small machine standing next to his bed. There was a line on it, moving up and down.

He had heard of this before. It must have been one of those monitors that Red had talked about. Maybe it was his heart rate?

As Orange continued to look around, he also noticed that there were wires attached to some small sticky circles on his chest.

Perhaps they were measuring his heart rate.

But a part of him could only think of the terrible pain that the collar had given him upon shocking him.

Before he could even blink, Orange found his own claws ripping the stickers and wires off of himself.

As he scrambled out of the sheets, he instantly felt regret for what he had done.

What if Red came back and saw this? Would he hurt him?

Orange shook his head, trying to clear those thoughts. If Red really wanted to hurt him that badly, wouldn't he have done so already?

He glanced around the room once again. It was silent except for the now-flatlining monitor, which was letting out a continuous low beep.

Orange winced at the sound, but heaved a sigh of relief as he realized that Red was nowhere to be seen.

He had time.

As Orange waited alone in the empty room, with only the loud beeping that was getting increasingly annoying, he realized that he didn't actually know what to do next.

Could he just...walk out?

There didn't seem to be any security measures in the lab, which was odd because Orange had thought that Red would want to keep his equipment safe. However, it was not a problem for Orange, because it meant that escaping wouldn't be too hard.

As Orange hopped out of the bed, he winced as he felt a dull aching in his side.

Right. He had forgotten that he was wounded.

Orange glanced down, seeing that the bandages were still wrapped tightly around his midsection. Surely he could still move around, even with this restriction.

But as he took a step forward, and then a second, the pain increased. He had to stop to catch his breath after only a couple steps without support.

Maybe walking out wouldn't be so easy after all.
