With a sigh, Dionysus put the cup of Diet Coke in front of him. He had lost the urge to drink. The dark liquid sloshed around in the cup several times like a tidal wave of black ink. The cup stood on the poker table in the middle of the conference room and its almost black liquid reflected the sunrise of the day and made the Abyss shine in a warm light.
With tired eyes, the god of wine looked through the window. The night had said goodbye and now greeted the day, dressed in a dress of velvet, mandarin and scarlet red with open arms. The colors stretched across the sky like watercolors across a canvas, mixing to form a pale ginger yellow. They showed hope and the beginning of a new day for the world. For many people, this was a new beginning, something in which they found happiness.
On top of that, it was summer. With its blazing heat and the trees that had taken on their elegant garb of various shades of green, the mortals were more than happy. They dressed in swimwear or summer dresses, shorts and ran through the streets like little bees buzzing through the air. Loud and absolutely nerve-wracking.
Dionysus looked at the strawberry fields with deep violet, almost black eyes. It was surprisingly calm. Normally, his children always danced around in these fields, or threw fruit at each other. Every day he watched them having fun together, and even if he didn't want to admit it, it warmed his heart to see them so carefree.
But today everything was different. It seemed as if the whole world had been plunged into grey. And all because his daughter was missing. Dionysus was worried about his child. He knew she was strong, he knew she could do it. With or without Perry Jonson or Annabelle. He knew she would survive. But his conscience still nagged at him.
