Author's POV

Samaira was in her office, deeply engrossed in work. Dhriti, her assistant, was absent as she had gone to her hometown to visit her ailing grandmother.

Suddenly, Samaira's phone rang, and she glanced at the screen. It was Dhriti.

"Good morning, Dhriti."

"Good morning, Samaira. How are you and everyone?"

"We're all good. How about you?"

"Everyone here is fine. I actually called to inform you that I won't be able to return tomorrow. Grandma insisted we stay longer, and my parents agree."

"It's okay, Dhriti. You deserve the break. Spend some quality time with your family."

"Really? I thought I’d have to convince you more," Dhriti said playfully.

"Well, if that's the case, your leave is canceled," Samaira replied with a mock stern voice.

"No, no, I was just joking!"

"What's wrong?"

"I almost forgot to tell you something important. Mr. Chhabra, the renowned film director, has invited you to his film's success party at the Taj Hotel tomorrow. Please don’t avoid it."

"Fine, I'll go. No need to pester me," Samaira sighed.

"Okay, but tell me, how are things between you two?"

"Who are you talking about?"

"You know exactly who I mean. Did you two become friends?"

"I have a lot of work to do, Dhriti. I'll call you later," Samaira said, ending the call abruptly. She sighed, knowing Dhriti would make a big deal if she found out more.

She called someone. "Vikrant, can you deliver the Kukrejas file?" she requested before diving back into her work.

Next Evening –

 Samaira's POV

"Argh, where is it stuck?" Samaira muttered, struggling with the zipper of her dress.

"God, it's finally done. I'm never wearing this dress again, but I must admit, I look good."

She glanced at herself in the mirror, satisfied with her appearance. She grabbed her phone, handbag, and headed downstairs.

Her parents were watching TV, and her younger brother Shivam was at his tuition class.

As she descended the last stair, her mother placed a protective charm behind her ear.

"You look beautiful, dear. God protect you from evil eyes."

"Okay, Maa, I'm getting late. Bye, papa." She bid them farewell and walked outside, where the driver was waiting for her.

"Let's go, uncle."

The party was in full swing. Samaira navigated through the sea of unfamiliar faces until she finally spotted Mr. Chhabra speaking with some guests.
