Author's POV •

Samaira's heart skipped a beat.

"Really? Who is she?" she asked, feeling an unfamiliar pang of jealousy that made her chest tighten.

Asher chuckled softly, his eyes twinkling with a mysterious light. "She's someone very special. Someone who doesn't realize her own worth yet," he replied, his gaze never wavering from hers, as if he was conveying a deeper meaning.

Samaira felt a strange mix of emotions swirling inside her.

She quickly looked away, trying to mask the confusion and the budding hope in her eyes.

"Sounds like she's lucky to have someone like you," she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper, betraying the tremor she felt.

"I don't know about her, but if she says yes, then I will be the luckiest," Asher said with a wistful smile, his voice full of genuine affection.

Samaira's heart ached with a mix of longing and sadness.

"Why? I mean, haven't you proposed to her yet?" she asked, unable to hide her confusion and curiosity.

Asher looked at her intently, his expression softening. "No, I'm afraid. What if she says no? Although I will respect her decision, whatever it may be, I'm still worried. I am thinking of proposing to her soon," he admitted, his vulnerability showing.

"Oh," was all Samaira could manage, feeling a lump in her throat.

Asher sensed the shift in the air and decided it was best to end the night.

"I think I should go now. It's quite late," she said, getting up, trying to escape the intensity of the moment.

"Okay, let me drop you," Asher offered, not wanting to let her go alone.

"It's okay, I'll book a cab," she replied quickly, not wanting to prolong the awkwardness.

"No! I mean, it's not safe. I will drop you," he insisted, his protective nature surfacing.

"Okay," she conceded, knowing he wouldn't take no for an answer.

The ride to her home was enveloped in silence, thick with unspoken words and unaddressed feelings.

Asher stole glances at her from time to time, puzzled by her sudden change in demeanor and the unspoken tension between them.

Samaira stared out of the window, lost in her thoughts, feeling the weight of unspoken emotions.

As soon as the car pulled up near her house, she quickly stepped out, eager to escape the intensity of the situation.

"Goodbye," she bid him, her voice soft, before hurrying inside without looking back.

Asher watched her disappear into the house, a sense of unease settling in his chest.

He then instructed his driver to leave, his mind troubled by the evening's unexpected turn of events.
