The noise of a rustling blanket woke me up. I opened my eyes slowly, seeing the silhouette of a familiar man leaving the bedroom. "Where are you going?" I heard myself ask. It was still dark outside and only a few streetlights and the moon lit up the city. I had probably been asleep for a couple of hours only.
"I just wanted to get something to drink." I hummed in response, closing my eyes again. However, I only fell back asleep when I felt another body next to me. He pulled me closer before covering the both of us with the blanket. Like that, I slowly drifted off to sleep again.
My alarm woke me up the next morning. The other side of the bed was already empty, and I didn't expect anything else. I reached out to my phone, which was lying on the nightstand.
No new messages, of course not. That's not how Jeongin was. He just disappeared. I probably won't hear from him again until next week or so.I let out a sigh, I had promised myself not to do it again. Don't sleep with him again until I knew what he wanted from me. Spoiler, it didn't work well. It was embarrassing.
Feeling pretty much like crap I went into the bathroom to get ready for work. I tied up my hair and threw on some close, I found in my closet.
Throughout the entire day, I restrained myself from looking at my phone as much as I could. To my surprise, it actually worked until it didn't.
I was already on my way home when a message popped up on my phone.
Jeongin
Are you free tonight?Don't answer, don't answer, don't answer.
Me
Yes, why?Damn it, not an ounce of self-control.
Jeongin
Let's meetTwo hours later I found myself in front of my apartment building. When I arrived home I had changed into a bit more comfortable clothes and unlike this morning my hair was falling over my shoulders now.
In the distance, I could make out Jeongin's figure. Recently he had started growing his hair out, which just completed his look. It suited him perfectly. Half of his face was covered with a mask as per usual, when we met outside.
"Hey," he kept his hands in his pockets as he greeted me with a mere nod.
"Hey" We started walking almost automatically. There was a small park nearby. "Why did you want to meet?"
Jeongin took his time to answer. "I like spending time with you." I couldn't do anything against the butterflies in my stomach. He liked spending time with me!! In the two years we had known each other it was the first time ever he said those words to me.
"Oh...yes, uh okay" I turned away to hide my, at this point probably very red cheeks from him.
In the middle of the park was a small mountain, from where you could watch over my entire neighbourhood. We sat down in the grass, enjoying the view. The sun had just started setting and covered everything in warm orange colours. Jeongin and I talked for hours.
And that was how it started again, or at least I thought. Jeongin and I met almost daily and if we didn't he texted me throughout the day when he had time. In the evenings we ate together. I would've never thought that he could cook like that. Everything was perfect.
But now I was exactly where I had been a month ago, at work trying to not look at my phone every second.
"What are you doing?" Trying to forget about the unanswered messages I sent Jeongin.
"Just waiting for this to load," I answered my coworker instead, pointing at the monitor in front of me.
