PAIGE sat peacefully in the passenger's side of the Toyota truck her father was currently driving. She looked through the trees and sighed as her father sang along to a tune. Paige couldn't believe they were moving — again.
She barely ever remembered Smallville, just knowing it was the place that her parents found her in. Paige only knew that her dad and her mother both lived there and shortly left after the whole meteor shower incident. Then, they moved to Boston and for five years of her life, she was there. Then, her parents split and she ended up being in the care of her father — which was what Paige was hoping for, anyways.
But then they moved to Grandville. And that was home, for years. Then, Dad's great uncle Ben, whom he's never met, leaves him a mansion in his will. And now, Paige is forced to leave everything she knows. It could explain her frustration as she shuts off the radio station her father currently singing along to.
Derek understands his daughter and why she's angry about the move. She's a fifteen, almost sixteen, year-old girl uprooting from the life she had for nearly ten years of her life. But Derek knew that this would be fresh start and he could reopen the old auto shop he had there all these years ago. And he could build a life with his new fiancée, Carmen.
"Honey, I know that you're still upset with everything with the move." Derek said. "I mean, it's only a county over. And you can still see your friends whenever you want." Derek looks over at his daughter, staring outside through the meadows.
They'd taken the backroads with their belongings in the bed of the truck. Carmen was ahead of them in her car. The headlights shone brightly on the road as they drove right through.
"Are you really still upset about this?" Derek asks and Paige turns her head slowly at her father. "Do you seriously have to ask that, Dad?" Paige questions. "My whole life was practically in Grandville and now we're moving to another janky old town and living in a mansion that was handed to you from an old guy you've never even met."
"Hey, the old guy you're talking about is my great uncle Ben. Sure, I've never even met him, but he's doing us a favor here. And I know you're upset but... Smallville's gonna be good for us. I know it will."
"We already lied to one town, might as well lie to all of them." Paige comments and Derek turns his head towards his daughter. "What do you mean by that?"
