SHORTLY after the whole mishap with the mansion, Paige and her family had finally gotten settled in Smallville. Derek was finally looking to reopen the auto shop, Carmen had gotten a job over at the high school and Paige had just started a new job.
Luckily, her and Chloe had gotten close over the past few weeks and she introduced her to her friend, Lana Lang, who owned a coffee shop called the Talon. Chloe had informed Lana that Paige was currently job hunting and was wondering if there were any spots she could fill in at the Talon.
And sure enough, Lana was actually looking for help. So Paige was pretty much hired on the spot.
But the thing with Paige was that this was her first job and she already had to get used to the packed crowds. She was already behind on an order and she was refilling coffee cups like there was no tomorrow.
Paige finally realized she was lighting the candle at both ends when she ran into one of the pillars and broke a coffee cup.
Lana had stopped beside her and Paige looks at the girl. "I am so sorry. I'll try and be more careful. I promise." Paige apologizes. "It's all good," Lana smiles. "You get the hang of it after a while. Trust me." Lana was reminded of her first day of waitressing and how she needed time before she could get used to it. She knew Paige was also going to need the time, too.
"Thank you, again, for hiring me, Lana. I really do appreciate it." Paige tells the girl and Lana nods, "Of course. Any friend of Chloe's is a friend of mine."
Paige smiles and decides to keep by the register so as not to break any more cups for the day. As the morning went on, Paige had continued taking orders and such.
Lana's aunt, Nell, had stopped by on a visit with her new boyfriend, Dean. As Lana decided to occupy them, Paige had gone back out on the floor to help as much as she could and since the crowd wasn't so big this time, it was a lot easier to handle.
Paige walked back to the counter as Lana and Chloe had walked towards the registers after Lana's aunt and her aunt's boyfriend left the shop.
When Lana and Chloe approached closer, Paige had overheard a little bit of their conversation. "Yeah, sure, if you'd given me more of a heads up I could have come up with something a lot better than a Keanu DVD-a-thon." Chloe stated.
