The Next Day

At 5:30 AM, Shanghai Train Station

As the ticket checking began, Fu Yu immediately grabbed their bags and took Fu Xiao's hand, guiding her onto the train. They found their seats and waved at Fu Weilun, who was standing outside.

Fu Weilun approached the window and gave them a series of instructions, "Remember, don't get off the train midway. If you run into any trouble, ask for help. I have a friend on this train who is a train policeman. You've met him before, Uncle Li."

"I know. Don't worry," Fu Yu replied.

"Uncle, when are you leaving?" Fu Xiao asked.

"Right away. The truck is right next to the station. I'll catch up with you at the station later."

With the train whistle blowing, the train slowly started moving, and the three of them said their goodbyes.

"......"

Once the trio had left Shanghai, the commotion began.

"Ah......"

A shrill scream rang out as the stolen goods were discovered, orchestrated by someone with ulterior motives.

In an instant, Shanghai was in an uproar.

Everyone had their own agendas.

However, Fu Xiao was no longer concerned with these events. The train had already departed.

The train chugged along faster and faster.

She lay on her berth, turning to watch the trees and cityscape receding outside the window.

Goodbye, Shanghai!

"......"

After staring out the window for a while and feeling a bit tired from the previous night's lack of sleep, Fu Xiao lay down and fell into a drowsy sleep as the train rocked gently.

When the train stopped at the next station, the noise of new passengers boarding woke her up.

She sat up and looked at Fu Yu, who was reading a book. "Brother, why aren't you sleeping?"

Fu Yu smiled and put down his book. "Can't sleep. Xiao Xiao, are you hungry?"

"No, I'm fine."

She took out two apples from their bag and handed them to him. "Brother, these apples are washed. You should eat one."

The two chatted while eating apples.

"Attention, everyone! Water service is starting! Please get your cups ready!" The train attendant called out, carrying a large kettle.

Fu Xiao, surprised, asked Fu Yu, "Brother, they serve water on the train? Don't we usually get it from the dining car?"

Fu Yu explained quietly, "Some carriages provide water service, while others don't. It's more common in sleeper carriages."

Understanding, Fu Xiao nodded. It seemed this was a new development in this era.

They filled two water bottles with hot water.

By soaking a few eggs in the hot water, they had a simple meal.

Several passengers came and went, but fortunately, they were all quite polite, and they didn't encounter any troublemakers.

The next morning, Fu Xiao woke up again. She glanced at Fu Yu's berth but saw he was gone, probably in the restroom.

Stretching, she decided to stand in the aisle for a while. After lying down for so long, her back was aching.
