"You mentioned that meeting was rescheduled; it won't start for another month," Fu Weilun said.

"Oh," Mu Lianshen, feeling a bit drowsy, rubbed his temples.

Noticing his weariness, Fu Weilun smiled and said, "Get some rest early."

Mu Lianshen, not one to refuse, took off his military coat and got into bed. The bed was spacious enough for two or three people.

Fu Weilun, after tidying up, took out an additional quilt from the cupboard and made a separate bed. Sharing a quilt was a bit too close for comfort.

After a long train ride, Mu Lianshen was exhausted and quickly fell asleep once he settled into the bed.

In the room next door, Fu Yu was sitting on the bed, and Fu Xu was absent. Fu Yu looked up with a calm smile and raised an eyebrow, "Why are you in my room alone?"

Fu Yu smiled and said, "Big Brother, you're back? Second Brother and my brother have become obsessed with a set of children's books and haven't finished yet."

"Oh?" Fu Yu's eyebrows furrowed as he heard noise from the next room. He placed his bag on the bed and went to open the door.

Fu Xu and Fu Hong, startled by the sudden door opening, scream loudly.

Seeing Fu Yu at the door, they both sighed in relief and, with synchronized joy, exclaimed, "Big Brother, you're back!"

Fu Yu replied calmly, "Yes, stop reading and go to bed early."

Fu Hong's eyes shifted as he immediately said, "Don't worry, we'll go to bed right away."

He didn't believe them, so he glared at them and said sternly, "Even if you're reading, keep the noise down so you don't disturb others."

Fu Hong and Fu Xu nodded vigorously.

Fu Yu returned to his room, threw his bag into the cupboard, and was about to get into bed when Fu Yu's voice, tinged with hesitation, came from behind, "Big Brother, you didn't wash your feet..."

Wash feet?

Fu Yu smiled wryly, "Little Yu, I'm really tired."

Understanding, Fu Yu put on his coat and went out to fetch the foot-soaking water.

Looking at the basin of water, Fu Yu's expression became more resigned. He smiled, "Little Yu, you're getting more particular by the day."

Fu Yu, with an impeccable smile, said, "Big Brother, soaking your feet makes for a more comfortable sleep."

"Alright," Fu Yu could only endure his fatigue and started soaking his feet.

After soaking, he didn't let Fu Yu help him; he carried the basin and poured the water out himself.

Returning to his room, he crawled into bed, turned to Fu Yu, and said, "Little Yu, I'm going to sleep now."

He closed his eyes, and it wasn't long before his breathing became steady and even.

Fu Yu also closed his eyes.

Winter's long night stretched on, the sky was filled with countless stars, seemingly endless.

The next morning, while it was still dark outside, Fu Xiao woke up.

Checking the time, she realized it was time to get up, especially to see Mu Lianshen off.

The early morning was even colder. She bundled up like a bear, opened the door, and went outside.

The kitchen was already lit by the coal oil lamp.
