A more intense wave of pain struck Gu Qichen, and combined with the wound on his leg, he could no longer endure. He moaned in agony, unable to sit still, curling up on the ground and letting out pained screams.

Just as he felt he might not withstand it any longer, he heard Fu Xiao's calm voice, "You have a point. I'll spare your life for now."

Fu Xiao approached him and crouched down, placing a pill in his mouth.

As the pain receded, Gu Qichen collapsed on the ground, exhausted.

Sweat blurred his vision, and he fought the urge to faint, forcing a smile. "Little girl, you made the right choice. I'll find the person for you when I get back to the city."

Suddenly, Fu Xiao noticed a figure running towards them.

Looking up, she saw Fu Yu approaching quickly, coming to her side. He grabbed her shoulders, concern etched on his face. "Xiao Xiao, are you alright? Did you get hurt?"

As Fu Xiao was about to respond, she heard Gu Qichen's low, mocking laugh. "Hey... the injured one is right here..."

Fu Yu pulled her behind him, standing protectively in front of her, his tone icy and sharp. "Xiao Xiao, what's going on with this person?"

Fu Xiao walked out from behind him and stood beside him, speaking softly, "Hmm... Just a petty thief. Though not very competent."

Gu Qichen kept his eyes closed, leaning against the tree, his leg bleeding profusely.

The wind rustled his hair. Upon hearing her words, his lips twitched into a faint smile as he slowly opened his eyes, gazing at her with a languid expression.

Fu Yu shot him a cold glance, then turned to Fu Xiao. "It's time to go. The family must be worried."

Fu Xiao nodded, then turned back to Gu Qichen. "Get up and walk on your own."

Gu Qichen coughed twice, struggling, "Little girl, I can't manage. How about having your companion carry me..."

Fu Xiao clicked her tongue and used a silver needle to hit a pressure point on him.

Gu Qichen felt his limbs regain movement. Supporting himself against a nearby tree, he staggered to his feet.

Fu Xiao put away the needle and walked toward Fu Yu.

She paused, turned back to look at Gu Qichen coldly. "The poison isn't cured, just temporarily sealed. If you don't want your body left here for the wolves, keep up."

She then turned to Fu Yu and said softly, "Brother, let's head back."

Gu Qichen knew she was telling the truth. The excruciating feeling was unbearable, and he didn't want to endure it again. He gritted his teeth against the pain and followed them, limping with difficulty.

Despite his years in the underworld and encountering all sorts of people, he had never met such a ruthless girl.

Considering his own looks, he thought he didn't deserve such harsh treatment.

He found it amusing.

His deep, cold eyes showed a rare hint of amusement as he kept pace with the two, his steps steady.

Under the dim moonlight, the trio walked through the forest.

In the dark woods, the only sounds were their footsteps and the occasional calls of birds.
