The smile on Fu Sui's face gradually faded. He pondered many possibilities in that instant but couldn't think of anything concrete. He lowered his head and continued eating.

Night fell.

In the middle of the night, Fu Xiao was standing by the window, honing her mental strength. She disturbed the leaves of the big tree outside the dormitory window, as well as the cicadas and small birds. She only stopped when she felt a headache coming on.

She took a bath in the space, drank a cup of spiritual spring water, then lay down on the bed to wait for sleep.

...

The next morning, at dawn

Fu Xiao was awakened by a knock on the door. She quickly put on her clothes and got out of bed...

Opening the door, she saw Fu Weilun smiling apologetically, "Third Uncle, sorry, I overslept..."

Fu Weilun shook the breakfast he was holding, "It's fine, I came early. Go freshen up, and come have breakfast first."

He then walked into the next room. She grabbed her toothbrush and went to freshen up. She saw Fu Yu already finished with his morning routine, his hair slightly damp and a towel draped over his shoulder. He smiled at her.

After she finished, she returned to the next room where the table was set with three portions of dumplings, still steaming.

Fu Xiao ate a dozen and was full. She pushed the remaining dumplings to Fu Yu.

She stood up, poured three cups of hot water from the thermos, then went back to her room to pack. There wasn't much to pack; she simply repacked her backpack from the day before.

After organizing her things, she returned to the next room.

Drinking her water, Fu Weilun checked the time and said, "Pack up, I'll take you to the train station."

He took Fu Xiao's backpack and carried it, leading the way.

Fu Yu and Fu Xiao followed him downstairs. Outside, a bullock cart was waiting, driven by a stranger.

Fu Weilun boarded the cart first, and they followed him up.

The cart started slowly, heading towards the train station.

Fu Weilun looked at them with a gentle voice, "I had someone find this cart, specifically for transporting people. It's quite a distance, so walking would be inconvenient."

The two nodded.

As the daylight brightened, the sun rose on the horizon.

In the small courtyard.

Gu Qichen was woken by the noise outside. He came out of his room and saw Shen Xingzhou, who was neatly packed and ready to leave.

He yawned, sat in the living room, and said indifferently, "Help me pass on a message to that girl—don't forget my antidote."

Shen Xingzhou stood in the living room, his handsome face expressionless, his peach blossom eyes narrowed, and his tone unfriendly, "What do you mean?"

Gu Qichen sneered, pointing to his head, "I don't have the time to figure it out for you. If I've managed to stay in the capital city this long, it's thanks to my clever brain."

Shen Xingzhou replied with a sarcastic smile, "Then this clever brain didn't tell you who you can provoke and who you can't?"

Gu Qichen's smile didn't wane, but his coldness was even more apparent.
