10. CALL IT QUITS FOR THE BETTER

— ANAIS POV

The sudden barge into the men's changing room has caused Anais to be in the centre of attention amongst the male athletes in the room, but those plastered gazes as she marches along way don't budge her a bit as she's here merely for one person— it was Lee Heeseung.

After figuring out about what happened to Jay, she discerns the heavy weights of carrying this burden that was caused by her own boyfriend, thus it is her responsibility to confront to him about it to make sure he's sorry for Jay. With a perplexing expression against his face, Heeseung cockily smirks as soon as she notices Anais makes her way towards him. "Hey babe, what are you doing he—"

"Explain to me what happened to Jay?" Anais crosses her arms against her abdomen as she stands straight before her tall boyfriend, face lifting up slightly as she stares at him blankly. "Who is even Jay?" Heeseung pretends, shoving his stuffs inside the locker while taking out an extra clean towel to wipe off his sweats around his neck.

"Jay from Sociology class. I'm pretty sure you have some ideas about what happened a few days ago, right?" Anais confronts.

"Yeah, what's with him?" Heeseung bluntly asks before gulping down some energy liquid down his throat with those cocky gestures that leaves Anais scoffs in disbelief, "Can't believe you're playing pretending right now, Lee Heeseung! He had bruises on his face. It was your doing, am I wrong?".

The male sucks the side of his inner cheeks annoyingly before trailing off, "I don't know what you're talking about" Heeseung proclaims, shutting off his metal locker and swirling around in attempt to walk off from Anais. "One more step, we're over Heeseung!" The female announces with no sense of guilt wavering in her tone.

And before she knows it, Heeseung's strong grip is already latching out for Anais' wrist as her words are enough to make him reconsider of unveiling the truths. He couldn't afford to lose Anais for the second time ever again, "Fine, it's true. That was me. I was meaning to just warn him to stay away from you, but I was just so angry and hit him... a little bit" Heeseung mutters defeatedly.

"A little bit?" Anais emphasises while returning him a deadly glare as he hastily proceeds to explain further, "Yeah, but I didn't expect I was going hard on him. It was unintentional. Please just trust me, Anais."

There's a long pause that fills up the air as if it's going to swallow up both of them alive. In a matter of second, Anais breaks the silence eventually. "I will trust you, but on just one condition. . ."

"What is it?"

"Apologise to Jay sincerely. Tell that you're sorry and you won't do it again." Anais firmly draws out her final resolution before muttering. "—or both of us are over" She walks off from the confused male, leaving him sighing in a stark dismayed.

Anais side-glances at the bored Heeseung who seems to be preoccupied stirring those whipped cream in his chocolate drinks, poking his inner cheeks in annoyance as they wait for Jay's arrival in the cafe near their campus. "Does he usually take this much time to arrive? He's really wasting our time" Heeseung asks wearily.

Anais hushes her boyfriend down while seeking for more patience from him as she was being informed that Jay was going to take some time to arrive because he had a catch up meeting to attend. "He'll be here in a minute. Let's just quietly wait" Anais utters. In a mere second, Anais' head twitches at the sight of his male friend dashing hurriedly into the cafe. "Sorry. I'm really, really sorry for taking your time" Jay mutters under his short breath, panting.
