25. THE DEPTH OF REGRETS
— JAY'S POV
Upon receiving a call from Anais with her trembling voice as she begs him for a help, Jay immediately rushes out of the house, tracking Anais' whereabout through the FindMy application, running as hard as he could hoping he'd find her somewhere safe without being severely hurt. As soon as he successfully reaches at the location where Anais was last spotted in his phone, he immediately sprints towards the figure of weak Anais near a dark and quiet side of the route, with her clothes are slightly soiled and her hair tousled in a mess.
His eyes instantly falters into a pain gaze as he's slowly approaching her and pulling her into his embrace, "I'm sorry, baby, I'm sorry. I'm sorry that I was too late to save you" Jay mumbles under his breath near the vulnerable, trembling Anais in his arms, only for her to shove her face into Jay's chest, arms finally sneaking around his body in shiver. "I was so scared, Jay" Anais breaks down, whimpering even louder into Jay's chest and she grips the fabric of his clothes for a sense of security. "He was following me from behind" Anais murmurs.
"I'm sorry, Anais. I am so so sorry" The male mutters repeatedly, there's a sense of regrets and resentment wavers in the voice of his throat. His chest flares in complete aggression thinking about he could possibly just kill that person who lays their finger on his girlfriend if he was there for her earlier, but too bad, he was too late. Jay pulls Anais closer into him, hushing her down softly while ushering her that she'll be safe in his arms from now on. Jay's palm softly rubbing on the Anais' back with his countless comforting words, "You're safe with me. I am here now, baby, I am here for you now".
"It was Heeseung" Anais finally mutters out the name of the person who should solely be responsible for the damage that had been caused. Jay erupts an exaggerated sigh through his gritted teeth while his eyes lurking over his loved ones as he's looking everywhere on her skin, "Where did he hurt you? How did he touch you, Anais?" Jay anger flickers through this tone. Anais then pulls away from him slightly to show him a bruise forming around her wrist, "He held me tight, pins me against that wall and almost choked me" Anais admits shakily.
"Fuck him, I am gonna fucking kill him" Jay grits his teeth as his chest wobbles up and down with so much wrath and rage through his sharp gaze. "I swear I'll go and fucking kill that asshole with my fucking bare hands" Jay says angrily, loosening his grip slowly from Anais in attempt to run and hunt down that piece of shit but before he knows it, Anais immediately screams him to stop, "Jay, don't—"
"Don't do that, please!" Anais begs for the male to stay with her, brushing away the idea of putting up violence upon Heeseung and gripping Jay's hand in hers. "Please, Jay. You'll get yourself in trouble" Anais says.
"I don't care, Anais. That bastard violently harassed you and he deserves the same amount of punishment as what he's done to you" Jay's words pierce through the air as he spits the unresolved anger within himself, but Anais' grip tightens Jay's arm again. "I beg of you, don't. Please listen to me, Jay. Don't do anything stupid!" Anais begs.
"Why, Anais? Because you still have the love for him?" Jay angrily slips out the words relentlessly out of his quivered lips, mind was too chaotic and jumble mess until he didn't realise the things he accidentally spill. "How could you say that to me now, Park Jongseong?" Anais mutters, her heart sinks as she finally loosening her grip that was around Jay's earlier. His words cut deeper into her heart and almost in a state of disbelief that Jay would utter hurtful words as if he didn't put enough trust for her.
"Fuck" Jay curses under his breath when some senses eventually crash all over him, only for the male to turn to her again when the realisation has died down his enraged heart earlier, "Anais, I didn't mean that way— I just— I got too angry" He stutters in between his words.
Anais sighs tiredly, carefully collecting her bag on the ground and standing up on her own feet with her shattered heart, tears rolling down against her cheeks. "I warn you to stop because I don't want you to be as reckless as Heeseung. Let the powerful authority handles this injustice and punish him with those rightful law instead. I just don't want you to end up being in jail for using your violence upon him, Jay".
Her words instantly softens his gaze and Jay immediately tries to reach to hold her again but the female stumbles back recklessly, "Don't touch me now, Jay. You don't trust me enough, don't you?" She utters, eyes looking everywhere but not directly into his. Her words lacing with a sense of betrayal. "Anais, I'm sorry. I told you I didn't mean it" Jay apologises, couldn't find the right words to say to her.
"And I hope you could reflect the words that you don't even mean again. I need to go home now. Just— don't follow me" Anais says bitterly, her words trailing off as she leaves the male behind before completely disappearing from his sight.

Just right after the minor fight with Anais, Jay finds himself standing in front of the police station nearby. With a heavy heart, he pushes the entrance door of the police station, stepping inside with a more composure demeanour within himself as he wanders around. One of the police officers is meeting eyes with Jay, only for them to ask, "Hello sir, can I help you with anything?". Nodding his head quietly, Jay states briefly with a firm tone in his voice, "I'd like to file a report on someone".
"Yes, your name? Age? And what are you reporting, sir?" The police officer asks, eyes already lingering on the computer screen as he's waiting for Jay's answer before he could type down the report on the device. "My name is Park Jongseong. I am 23 years old. I'd like to file a report on a figure named Lee Heeseung, which happened to be sexual harassing my girlfriend about an hour ago" Jay states, fiddling her fingers together on the counter.
"So, do you happen to know this person that you mentioned?" The officer asks with a raising eyebrow.
Jay nods slightly and licks his lower lips before answering, "He goes to the same institution as me and my girlfriend. He was my girlfriend's ex boyfriend. I wasn't presented by the time the harassment happened, but she was badly injured" Jay states a matter-of-fact.
"And may I know the name of the victim?" The officer proceeds.
"Her name is Anais Kim" Jay states, while watching and hearing the sound of those clicks on the keyboard as the officer meticulously glides his fingers on it, nodding profusely as he's receiving some information from Jay.
As Jay is done reporting, he finally feels surge of relief within himself when he's stepping out of the police station. The rage and resentment for Lee Heeseung still flickers inside, but bear enough for him to remain his internal to be calm for the sake of Anais' choices and decisions earlier. What's done is done, and Jay just hopes that Heeseung will receive the punishment that he badly deserves.
Taking out a phone from his pocket, Jay immediately dials for Anais' number in attempt to ask her if she's alright after the horror nightmare that might traumatised her earlier, but there's no answers from her at all. Jay sighs defeatedly, admitting that his behaviour just now was out of control, but what Anais said was right.
A part of him finally agrees with her opinion and he merely feels stupid to just act uncontrollably with rage, to the point, he accidentally uttered something dumb to her. He regrets every little word he has said and he's responsible to make peace with Anais again as he's just afraid of losing her.
