19 | a moment to remember

19. A MOMENT TO REMEMBER

— JAY'S POV

Both Jay and Anais are lying next to each other on the king-sized bed of the hotel room, staring at the fancy chandelier that hangs above them. Comforting Anais in his arms earlier, Jay finally ushers her to take a rest and now both of them just lay there, filling each other's stillnesses with those solemn breathing that emits through their lips. "Can I ask you a question? Is the man that I saw that night at the bar, was one of your clients?" Jay asks curiously, slightly turning his head to observes her side. Anais nods slow, "He was one of them. He paid me to have drinks with him." The female admits, finally has the courage to tell him the truth.

"Did he pay you quite a lot?" Jay asks, he's not afraid to ask more to her as the vibe rather seems unreserved and laid-back, unlike the last time he felt around her. Shaking her head, now her face shifts to him, "Not as much as you did." Anais replies pleasantly, chewing her lower lips before she adds, "but I earned quite a lot through those meetings, and those contents on MyFans, just to pay on my mother's surgery" She finishes her words bitterly.

"So it was for your mother?" Jay asks, slowly adjusting as he's resting the head on his arm that lays on surface of the mattress. He softly scans Anais' face that could be interpreted as answers for his curiosity, and it piqued him when the female blankly blinks at Jay. "Everything I did was all for her" She emphasised. "although it was a wrong thing to do. I had no choice" Anais states, continuing to chew her lips nervously.

"Why didn't you tell me about this? Knowing that you're struggling on your own to save your family like this—" Jay mutters, his stare intensifies on the look that Anais hides beneath her makeup. "—pains me so much inside. I should've known about it sooner, so that the least I could do is to help you" Jay says.

"It's really complicated, Jay. I didn't want to yet lose another friend over my personal stuffs that should be handled myself" Anais utters, catching Jay's eyes are deepening into hers. "I trust you very much. You can only rely on me, you know?" Jay asks. A small smile hovers over her lips as she mutters, "Now that I know it, I promise to let you know next time."

"So about the confession earlier, did you mean it?" Anais asks, trying to change the subject as she tilts her head to him slightly. Jay draws out a sheepish smile, shutting his lids briefly and nodding. "I meant everything that I've ever said you" He mutters slow, resuming to maintain his stare on hers again like it's a whole competition. "including those words I've uttered to your mother about you last time. . ."

With a look that softens her eyes, Anais leans in closer to capture Jay's lips with hers softly. Her warm breath tickles against his skin when she deepens their kiss more passionately, her tiny fingers already tracing its way along his defined jaw. Anais pulls away shortly and mumbles, "How long have you been loving me?" The female retorts. Jay seems too mesmerised by her beauty, almost getting lost under her spell, "It's been two years already."

"Why didn't you pursue me then?" Anais asks, not sure if she's joking or being real.

"Because you were with Heeseung" Jay replies bitterly beneath his tongue. In return, the male receives a soft chuckle from Anais as she lightly strokes his hand before her with her index finger. "So you never gave up on me" Anais asks, just to earn a fervent nod from Jay. The male adjusts his body, closer to her side, before he's asking. "Can I kiss you again, Anais?" Jay whispers to her softly, and with an approval response, he swiftly hovers above her, connecting his lips with hers.

Jay carefully clasps her hands into his on her sides, slightly adjusting his head as he tries to delve deeper into Anais' territory with his tongue more devotedly. He slowly moves his hands downwards along the curves and lines of Anais' body while letting her fingers navigate its way towards his neck, closing the gap that creates a distance between them.

The male pulls away from Anais as he's taking the time briefly in the middle of their kiss to admire her beauty under him. He tucks some strands of hair that rest on her face behind her ears, before trailing those feathery kisses from her collarbone to her neck then lastly on her lips again. Jay's inaudible mumble interrupts in between the kisses, "You're so beautiful like an angel." He presses his lips against her softly before whispering again, "My angel" Jay emphasises.

Giving up above her, Anais evokes a loud giggle when the male holds her body over, to make her sit on top of his abdomen while his grips secure on her thighs carefully. Both of their breathing are getting shallow and lips are growing numb from the kisses they shared earlier, but Anais leans into him to lace her lips with him again for the final round before uttering, "I love you, Jay".

"I love you too, Anais"

Jay's gaze firmly lands on both of his adults before him on the couch, as they're returning him those odd yet unpredicted expression to their only son. "What is it, dear? Are you having problem with something?" The mother asks curiously, her stare fixes on Jay. A slight bow now was earned by them in return as Jay slowly gulps a huge lump in his throat, "Can I ask you guys for a favour?" Jay asks, the tone of his voice emits desperation.

"Yes, but care to explain what favour?" The father takes his turn to ask the son. "I need for your help to fund someone's healthcare. It's my girlfriend. Her mother just had a heart transplant surgery and she's in need for home care treatments" Jay explains exasperatedly, his voice cracks as he speaks.

Both of his parents exchange their glances to each other while calming him down,"What's her name?" His mother asks, fiddling her fingers together as she adds, "and what happened to her family? Her dad couldn't afford to pay for her mother's treatments?"

"Her name is Anais Kim. She's the eldest in her family without any father figure at the moment. She's the one that helps her mother financially." Jay carefully explains. "We would love to help her, Jay. But aren't we just an outsider? I think it'd be more appropriate if we could meet with Anais in person first, then we will discuss about this later" His mother exclaims firmly.

"—Please Mom, Dad? Please help Anais instantly" Jay utters desperately while his face contorts into a pleading expression before he continues, "—and in return, I'd join Park Corporation as a way to repay you back. Just this once, please help me. I promise you." Jay pleads. Upon hearing their son's request, they finally give in. "Fine, Park Jongseong, but promise us another thing"

"What is it?"

"We would like to formally meet Anais. We want you to introduce her to us very soon" Her mother retorts.
