28. UNACCEPTABLE FATE

— ANAIS' POV

"Congratulations, everyone!" All of them cheer and clink their glasses to each other, indulging themselves with the sensation of the alcohol that runs down in their system in those bustling and busy restaurant. Observing the rest of Jay's friends — the one who are seem to be enjoying drinking so much are Jake and Jay himself, because both of them are already on the second glass of their beer.

Meanwhile Jungwon and Sunghoon seem to prefer to have just a tiny sip of the beer instead of letting themselves to get tipsy. "So, Anais, how's our little gentleman Jay is treating you so far? Is he good?" Jake asks, breaking off the silence as an attempt to make conversation with Anais. Jay returns the Australian his glare and a slight nudge with elbow, responding. "Is that even a question, huh? Of course I'm treating my girlfriend so well, or else she won't be sitting here with me."

"I didn't even ask you to answer that, whether you're treating her nice or not, it's all up to Anais, not you" Jake playfully chimes in,  causing the rest of them at the table to laugh off at his banter. "Well, of course. Jay is treating me just nicely, even so much more better than my previous relationship" Anais admits, finally trying to save Jay from any more statements from his peers. With a scornful shrug, Jay returns them his confident expression across his face. "See? I told you guys, I have done a great job".

"So, what are your plans after graduation, guys? Have you start on job hunting yet?" Anais asks, the conversation escalates quickly to another more suitable topic that revolves around their future careers and plans. Sunghoon nods swiftly, shoving a piece of meat into his mouth that he just grilled earlier. "Yeah, I opt for the Finance industry. Since my dad works in the similar field, I think I grow interested with what he was doing over the years" The male expresses his decision and thought out of his mind, leaving the rest to have similar expression on their faces.

Jake then shows his enthusiasm with Sunghoon's choice of careers, "I heard you'll earn a lot in the Finance industry though. Which means, you'll be doing great in that, Sunghoon. You're the smartest person I have known after all" Jake states.

"Says the one that never achieved a GPA that is below than 4.0" Jay mutters, his head cocks over to the Jake's side. "Aren't you also into finance? What's the position that you're interested to apply huh, Jake?" Jay turns to Jake's side, as the male is busy grilling his meat on the fire.

"I guess I'm into Audit at the moment" Jake nonchalantly states, carefully placing his meats on his plates before passing the remaining of the meats onto the other people's plate as well. "Hearing you guys are discussing about your future career makes me feel small" Jungwon finally chimes in, the male exchange his glance with the rest while heaving a small sigh. "That's okay, Jungwon. Whatever path you tend to choose after this is also a big achievement for you, you know" Anais says, finally backing up Jungwon who feels insecure of his future.

"Thank you, Anais. So you have any interesting in particular?" Jungwon remains his gaze on Anais as he's curious for Anais' choices of career later on. Earning a small nod from the female, she finally responds to a question from Jungwon. "I'm interested to be in Marketing industry. It's something that I was interested in ever since I was in high school".

Jungwon's lips agapes in surprise as he heard Anais' answer and he reaches out his palm to Anais for a high five, "I'm also into Marketing though! Finally, someone who's interested in the same field as me" Jungwon exclaims with a sigh of relief before continues, "I didn't expect that you'd be interested in Marketing though. You look like someone who's into clothing business and create your own brands" Jungwon states unexpectedly.
