"I don't want to transfer school, Chet. What kind of suggestion is that?" Faye said trying to hide her annoyance.

She is with Chet, her college friend and now colleague in the university. They are going on and on about her case with the boards and Chet finally suggested that it's good for Faye to transfer school and just take the opportunity the board is offering her before they conduct a full blown investigation.

"That is just my suggestion, Faye. It's still up to you to consider."

"I already deleted that stupid dating app. I talked to the student already and we had an agreement to keep it to ourselves. If the boards are thinking that I groomed her or used my power as their teacher, no I did not. She is old enough to give her consent and she was not my student when that happens. I just did not know that she will be my student here."

"I understand you and I truly believe you but you should know that we cannot fully trust the student. They might change their mind one day and all your hard work will be ruin."

"What if I just tell the truth?"

"I would not even dare to suggest that. They will kick you out immediately."

Faye heave a sigh.

"Then... my only option is to transfer. Is that it?" Faye said with low tone and sad face.

Chet nods and slightly smile to her.

"Yes."

Faye did not say anything after that. She look away and tried her best to smile.

"By the way, your Mom reached out to me again. She is asking if you have free time this week to meet while she is in the city." Chet said to change the subject.

"You know that I'm busy."

Chet smile.

"I know that you are not busy during this time but I can always make up excuses for you."

"Thank you."

Chet look at her and slowly close the gap between them. Faye did not seem to notice it.

"I know I already asked you this before but is it really because of your belief that are destined to be lone woman thats why you do not want to be connected with your Mom?" He asked.

Faye nods, and slightly move away.

"Yes. Everyone that I care and love deeply left and abandoned me. I don't want to be attached again and feel the sorrow of being left behind."

"Isn't that a bit of a stretch to believe that kind of superstition?"

"It's not a superstition, it's my reality, Chet."

"Well, I'm still here. I did not abandon you. I'm still here with you since college. You know that I care about you alot and I believe that you also feel that way cause there is no way we will have this kind of friendship if not for mutual love and care."

Faye look at him and smile.

"It only happens when I love and care more."

"Ouch..." Chet playfully acted that he is hurt with Faye's remarks.

"I don't want to rude but I just protect our friendship by keeping it that way."

"I know. I'm just kidding." Chet laugh before he continues. "I see now that you care for your Mom but you want to keep her so you are trying not to care and love as much."

Faye nods.

Destiny of lone woman.

From young age, Faye has this crazy belief that she is destined to be alone. Her experience reaffirm this belief when his Dad died.
