Chapter Ten : I Quit..and I..

"Mama, you should really fire her." Mel urged. Joyce looked up from the cake batter she was mixing.

"Why,Melanie? You keep saying that but with reason or explanation as to why."

"She was touching Chris. I saw her." Mel lied. Joyce's eyes grew wide. That didn't seem like Lotus. That seemed so out of her character.

"Are you sure? You sure you didn't have a clear enough view? You probably saw something misleading."

"No I didn't. I saw it. Mama why would I lie to?" Mel said pretending as if she were hurt.

Youre lying now..

"Okay. Well I'll have a word with her about the situation when she hgets here."

      Time had rolled around and Lotus was sure enough on time. Little did she know, she was about to receive some bad news. She was let into the house by Joyce. Mel stood behind her mother as Lotus entered.

"Lotus can I have a word with you?" Joyce asked. Lotus nodded.

"Sure, no problem."

"Lotus" she began "Mel had to me that she saw very inappropriate actions done by you. "

"Inappropriate?" Lotus wondered.

"Yes. She said you'd been touching Christopher. Is that true?"

"No ma'am. You know I would never harm him. I don't know where she would get something like that."

"I don't either. I know you wouldn't do anything like th--" Mel cut her off.

"You liar! I saw you , I caught you right in the act! Don't lie!" Mel shouted. Such an amazing actress.

"I didn't touch him. The past few days you've been here, you have irked my nerves. From when you came at me wrong, to this." Lotus said sternly.

"And I'm here to stay for a while, so deal with it."

"Ladies." Joyce said.

"I'm sorry Ms.Joyce, but I quit. Is that what you wanted Melanie?"

"Yes." She answered truthfully." I don't see why you're here. He doesn't need to acquire your services anymore. He has me and my sister."

"I'm leaving now." Lotus gritted. She walked hastily to the front door. Christopher stood there.

"Why should I even talk to her? She doesn't like me?" Christopher thought inside his head.

"Oh forget it, I'll do lot anyway."

"Lotus?" Christopher called. She stopped in her tracks.

"Yes , Christopher?"

"Why are you leaving so soon?" He asked.

"I quit. I'm so sorry, Christopher. I wish I could stay,but I can't. I'm sorry." She cried. She hasn't realized she was crying. It really cut her seep that she had to leave Chris. But it was best that she refrained from knocking Mel the fuck out.

"But Why? Why would you quit, Lotus? Dammit, it was probably Mel's fault! That malevolent disgrace!" Christopher shouted. Lotus looked at him for a minute. She was confused.

"Christopher?"

"Yes?"

"Your speech. There's nothing wrong with it. You sound fine, you're using words out of your vocabulary. There's nothing wrong with you, is it?"

"Damn!" Christopher mentally fave palmed himself.

"Lotus, I--"

"How could you lie to me! I thought we were friends!"

"I wasn't intending to hurt you. Can I at least ex--"

"No. Bye, Christopher." Lotus opened the door and before she could walk out, Chris stopped her.

"Wait." Lotus turned around.

"What?" Lotus spat.

"You don't ever leave without giving me a hug." Chris stated. Facts my nigga.

          He pulled into a hug that lasted damn near forever. Lotus didn't want to let go, Chris didn't want to let go. This could be the point where they walk out of each other's lives for ever. Inhaling each others scent for what they think is the last time, they let go. Lotus looked up at him with her tear stained face as he looked down at her with red eyes.

"And just to let you know, I love you." She spoke softly.

"I love you too."
