Scanning the crowded room wildly, Taylor Swift couldn't help but feel alone. Standing by herself, she had no inclination to interact with any of the other celebrities in the room. She was at a pre-Oscars party, and she didn't really know why she was here. She'd somehow managed to convince herself the night before that it was what she needed. She'd been feeling particularly isolated for the past few weeks, with only her cat Meredith for company. She'd decided she needed some human interaction before she turned into a crazy old cat lady. Now she was here, and she still felt somewhat unfulfilled. She knew hardly anyone here intimately, and whilst she was usually quite good at making conversation with acquaintances, she didn't quite feel like trying tonight. With a sigh, she decided to hit the bar.

"Glass of red please." Taylor sat cross legged on a stool, chin resting on her hand. If she just stuck around for a little while longer as not to seem rude, then she could make her excuses and leave. She had an episode of Law and Order waiting for her at home.

"Taylor? Taylor Swift?!"

Taylor whirled round to see her fashion model friend Gigi Hadid beaming at her with open arms.

"Gigi! How are you?" Taylor cried, getting up off the stool to give her friend a proper hug.

"I'm good! I didn't know you were going to be here! We could've all gotten ready together."

"Oh that's ok, who did you come with?" Taylor asked.

"Just me," said a voice from behind Taylor's shoulder.

"Huh?" Taylor turned round to face Victoria's Secret model Karlie Kloss grinning at her.

"Karlie!" Taylor squealed, as the model pulled her into a bone crushing hug. Taylor hadn't seen Karlie since November at the Victoria's Secret fashion show where they had met for the first time. Although it was the first time they'd met, it felt like they'd known each other for years. Taylor had found Karlie to be very easy to talk to; they shared the same dry sense of humour, and the same aura of excitement about life in general. The connection had been the same on and off- stage; they just seemed to understand each other's character. Taylor had meant to get her number after the show, but she'd never gotten the chance due to being swarmed with fans wanting to meet her, and the model had left by the time she had finished.

"I haven't seen you since the Victoria's secret show!" Karlie said, releasing her.

"I know I'm so sorry, I meant to get your number afterwards but I got distracted."

"What kind of excuse is that Swift? You so could've asked Gigi, or Cara or Lily for it!"

"I know but isn't that a bit weird? I didn't want to have it without asking first you know"

"Taylor it's fine, I'm just teasing you!" Karlie laughed. Taylor punched her arm lightly, grinning at her. She suddenly felt a lot better than she had 15 minutes ago.

For the rest of the night Taylor and Karlie sat at the bar drinking and chatting. Taylor found herself laughing more than she had for a long time. Even the way Karlie laughed made her laugh, as threw her head back, her short brown hair whipping against her back.

"You know what" Taylor managed to get the words out in between laugher, clutching at her aching sides, " I was having such an awful time until you showed up."

"Oh no why's that?" Karlie asked, her smiling turning to a look of concern.

"I don't know, I guess I just felt lonely," Taylor shrugged.

"Oh Tay, I don't want you to ever feel like that," Karlie reached out and held one of Taylor's hands in her own. "You have so many friends, why would you ever feel lonely?"

Taylor hung her head. "You know what it's like, we all have such busy schedules, and everyone has their own lives, their own families."

"Hey, look at me." Taylor lifted her head to look into Karlie's bright green eyes. "Whenever you feel like that, you know you can talk to me right? I mean if you ever get round to giving me your number, I'm only a phone call away," Karlie gave her a cheeky grin.

"Give us your phone then!" Taylor laughed as Karlie started rummaging through her purse, and proceeded to hand Taylor her iPhone. Taylor quickly tapped her number into the phone and handed it back to the model.

"There you go! Now you don't have to keep moaning at me anymore."

The girls laughed.

"Hey Karlie come here!" Gigi called over to her. "I wanna take a picture." Karlie rolled her eyes. "I'll be back in one moment" she addressed Taylor apologetically, getting up and walking quickly towards Gigi. Taylor was a bit tipsy at this point, so as she was watching Karlie she had a mischievous idea. Giggling to herself, she snuck up behind the two girls as they posed for the photograph. She managed to pull a funny face just as the camera flashed. Taylor quickly covered her mouth so the girls wouldn't hear her laughing as Gigi took her phone and they looked at the picture.

"Taylor?!" Karlie whirled round as Taylor burst out laughing.

"I can't believe you photobombed us!" Gigi tried to sound annoyed, but the image on her phone screen was too hilarious that she eventually joined in with Karlie and Taylor's fits of giggles.

"That was genius Tay" Karlie laughed, putting her hand on Taylor's shoulder to support herself.

"I have to tweet this" Gigi grinned, still absorbed in her phone.

"Oh shoot, Gigi we have to get going, Lily's just texted me saying she's waiting for us" Karlie had her phone out now. Taylor couldn't help but feel slightly disappointed that they were leaving so soon.

"Oh yeah, we'd better go. See you soon Taylor." Gigi gave her a quick hug and headed for the door.

"Sorry," Karlie looked at the singer sheepishly.

"It's ok," Taylor smiled at her. "Hopefully I'll see you again soon?"

"Of course you will, you have my phone number so you have no excuse." Karlie reached out and wrapped her arms around Taylor. "Don't be a stranger Tay," Karlie mumbled in her ear.

"I won't" Taylor replied, taking in Karlie's scent. It was a comforting scent, sort of familiar, but Taylor couldn't quite place exactly what it smelt like.

"Good," Karlie released her before she had any more time to figure it out. 'I'll see you soon," The model called behind her as rushed off after Gigi. Taylor watched her long legs moving quickly as she darted out of the party. Little did she know just how soon she would be seeing the 21 year old.
