"Look at you, Mao. Standing there all afraid. With being Yumenosaki's prince, shouldn't you be reigning in confidence instead?" The one with blue hair tutted on, his steps slow as he moved towards Mao within the snow upon the hill the two very stood up on right there.

The snow fluttered with each movement he caused.

HiMERU stops as soon as he is up in Mao's personal bubble. Mao's kelly green eyes watched on with anxiety. Hesitancy caused a lack of control from his smaller being. The sword he held in his hand shook with fear. The coldness of the winters day casts over the blade from the freezing and glaring sun.

"Why did it have to turn out this way?" Mao's voice shook, a wave of heartbroken from being betrayed settled within his tone.

"Because," HiMERU kneels a little. Yellow blazing like the fire into Mao's pure green ones. "We're enemies, Mao. We always have been. You just decided to play the fool with that naivety of yours and pretend that we were something else..."

"But we were! Weren't we?" Mao's eyes sharpened with confusion. He tried his best to keep a steady glance towards the taller.

HiMERU only chuckles. "HiMERU gave you a massive hint on day one since we met, little prince. We are far from friends, or anything closer than that. We're enemies, just like our kingdom's taught us to be."

"...But... that doesn't mean I have to kill you - HiMERU, I don't want to kill you!"

"Of course, you don't have to," Mao's breath hitches at the words of hope...

HiMERU's stone serious expression turns to one of manic grin, "but HiMERU can force you to."

...Yet the hope that Mao felt immediately washed away, as HiMERU grabbed tightly against Mao's hand and with blood spilling profusely, HiMERU forced the sword he held into his own chest.

Mao cries as HiMERU collapses from his hold, the sudden heavy drop causing him to let go of his own blade and for HiMERU's hand to fall with.

"HIMERU!"

Forever into the evening, did Mao's scream and cries echo the wasteland for no one to hear his pleas at all.
