No matter how many times it happens, surprise is always the first emotion running through his mind as he stares at the same spot of his bed every time after a busy day of productivity.

Every evening, Mao always comes back to the dorm room to find gifts from a specific person. Be it teddies, sweets, a handmade card from the arts and crafts club, and so much more, they all exist, piling up in a corner of his small area of the room.

His dorm mates tend to tease him about it, acting all overly motherly-esque about who he was getting the gifts from - because whoever it was, they sure knew how to break down Mao's walls and make him smile, reminding everyone around him that Mao is still just a teenager too.

The person who he was getting gifts from is mostly unexpected. Nobody was expecting Mao to say 'yes' to this person when it came to romantic feelings.

Tsumugi Aoba was Mao's other half. The one who loves Mao in more ways than one, more than anybody could ever count.

It's just like any other time when getting gifts from Tsumugi. He picks up the wrapped up gift and inspects it, feeling around the wrapper and even shaking it to see if anything could give him a clue.

The gift this time, it was small, thin, and rectangular. Nothing much came to Mao's mind when trying to guess what it could possibly be. It was too thick to be a phone - he didn't even need a new one of those anyways, given the fact that Subaru and the rest of Trickstar tends to force him to be up to date with technology.

The gift didn't make any noise. It was fully solid and hard at the touch but yet smooth.

Mao then decides to remove the wrapping, tearing away at the corners and lifting the tape that makes it all stick together. He reaches his fingers inside, feeling another wrapper but much different from what he just tore open...

Mao then slides the mysterious gift out, only to be met with a chocolate.

Most of its casing was white with gold coloured trims. The middle area of the wrapper was a maroon colour with a fancy sounding brand sitting directly in the middle of it all typed in a cursive-bold font. Sitting against the brand name was a miniature picture of an example of a half eaten piece of the chocolate he was holding.

He then inspects the writing some more to see it was a flavour he majorly liked. It was chilly smothered in dark cocoa.

Most of his friends tend to think that Mao is the type to like anything sweet and light - like white chocolate or milk chocolate, he's asked a few times on why, and he always got the same answer back. It was because of his personality, they'd all say.

So he was very well surprised to know that Tsumugi knows such a little detail about him. It made his heart swell with pride.

He opened the wrapper, slid a part of the chocolate out, and snapped a little square off. The chocolate had a pattern on top of it. It was nothing major, just a few swirl shapes that connected together, making a triangular shape.

Mao then reaches the chocolate up to his mouth and takes a nibble. The chocolate covering immediately melts in his mouth as the hot spice warms his taste buds. It was a very unexpected satisfying feeling, and Mao couldn't help but smile brightly as he took another nibble, a hum of satisfaction resonating from his vocal cords.

He definitely has to find a way to give back to Tsumugi. He wonders what he could get the older blue boy?
