Recommend Song For Book: "Good Girl" by Carrie Underwood

"Love is as much suffering as it is sweetness. If it was perfect, that's what they'd call it. They wouldn't it call it bittersweet."

------Nicole Williams

Prologue

"You two sons of bitches are going to medical school."

I laughed as I turned off the TV when the credits appeared on the screen, feeling exhausted. I turn to look at my older brother sleeping with a pillow supporting his head. I scoff, finding it typical for my brother to fall asleep while watching a movie with me. I get off the couch and readjust the pillow under his head before sitting back down on the couch.

Daniel usually never falls asleep during a movie, but if he does I know not to wake him up. Apparently watching a movie is his only time to relax and relieve stress before having to get up and go to work again. But I completely understood him. Being a police officer at the police station doesn't exactly allow much sleep especially if you're trying to get a promotion.

I took a sip of my water bottle as I watched my older brother sleep. Daniel reminded me a lot of our father because he was a clear image of him. They both had slightly curly, dark brown hair almost black, giving them both a childish look. Daniel and dad even shared the same attitude and personality. They both were very optimistic during hard times and had mild tempers. But the one thing Daniel didn't share with my dad was his eye color. Dad had coffee brown eyes while Daniel and I inherited our emerald green eyes from our mother.

My mother was a touchy subject for my family. She had left us at a young age, claiming she couldn't handle the pressure of two kids and a husband. Daniel ended up having to step up as an older brother and my father had to take up the role of a mother and fatherly figure while managing to keep his job at the hospital. But it also didn't help that I looked like my mother. I sadly have her long strawberry blonde hair and hourglass body shape along with her green eyes.

Today, Daniel and I had one of our movie nights. Our movie nights served as our sibling bonding time. They were an every week tradition for us. We usually took turns on who got to choose the movie, but this week, we both decided to watch one of our favorite movies, "22 Jump Street."

Daniel and I absolutely loved that movie. We would share many laughs and I would constantly make comments about how incredibly hot Channing Tatum is. His abs and his smile!

The door bell rings, interrupting my thoughts of Channing Tatum.. I rush to the front hallway and answer the door to see my best friend, Camilla, standing there with an awkward smile on her face. She's clutching her laptop to her chest and gripping her purse in her right hand as if someone were to take it. "Sorry. I forgot my keys again. But the really question is what are you wearing?" She asks before walking into our apartment.

"Not all of us can look as fashionable as you sometimes, Cam. And I'm wearing sweats because I had a movie night with my brother," I explained, rolling my eyes. "Well even for a movie night you have to at least try to look presentable, Allie," Cam tells me, causing me to roll my eyes.

Daniel and Camilla were the only people who called me Allie. While everyone else called me by my full name, Allison. I didn't favor my full name but I didn't hate it either. Camilla walks towards the living room and I followed closely behind her.  I jumped on the oversized sofa, taking most of the space up by stretching out my legs. Camilla takes a seat on the love seat, pulling her laptop out.
