"Come on, Sokka, you're going to be fine,"
"No I'm not! I'm going to mess it up!" Sokka clutched the many papers tightly. He had been stressing for the better part of an hour. While we were all anxious for the impending invasion, Sokka had decided to worry about something else.
"You've been planning this for months," I told him. "I'm sure you can give a quick presentation of the plans,"
"Yeah, I guess you're probably right..." Sokka finally agreed as Katara handed her brother a cup of tea to try and calm his nerves. From behind us, we could hear Aang finally wake up after a long slumber.
"Top of the morning, Momo!" he said to his pet as he joined the rest of us.
"Sounds like you slept well," Katara smiled at him.
"Like a baby moose lion," Aang grinned back. "I'm ready to face the Fire Lord,"
"So what's your strategy for taking him down?" Toph asked the young Avatar. "Going to get your glow and hit him with a little Avatar state action?"
"I can't," Aang responded, his shoulders dropping. "When Azula shot me with lightning, my seventh chakra was locked, cutting off my connection to all the cosmic energy in the universe,"
This was a punch to the gut to hear. I had witnessed first-hand just how powerful the Avatar state was at the Northern Water Tribe. Hearing that Aang no longer had access to it was a great hit to my confidence. Sokka, on the other hand, had a different mindset.
"It's fine. (y/n) can just hit him with his spirit mode!" he announced.
"Spirit mode?" I raised an eyebrow at him, unsure of what he was referring to.
"Yeah! You know, when your eyes shine black and white and you start doing some really powerful waterbending," Sokka clarified as he began doing a visual representation of some waterbending stances.
"Oh right, that," I said. "Well I hate to break it to you, but I don't decide when I enter 'spirit mode'. And even if I could, taking down Ozai is Aang's thing,"
Sokka frowned as Katara took a few steps towards the edge of the grassy cliff, staring at the weather.
"Sokka, do you think the fog will delay the invasion?" she asked, noticing the low-lying sheets of cloud on the ocean's surface. Both myself and Sokka stood next to her, glancing at the mist.
"No, that is the invasion!" Sokka responded. This confused me until I saw numerous large ships begin to penetrate through the fog.
"Woah," I gasped as the wooden ships quickly drew nearer. Each one had a big blue flag flying from it, and I could just about see a number of people on board each boat.
We all ran down the cliff face as fast as we safely could, arriving just as the many ships docked at the multiple long jetties that Toph had created out of earth. People began pouring out of the boats as our ragtag army had become apparent. I didn't recognise anybody, so I assumed that most of our soldiers were friends that the gang had met either before I had met them or whilst I was in prison.
"(y/n)!" I heard Sokka shout from behind me as I people-watched. He grabbed my shoulder and spun me around. "I want you to meet my dad!" he said as he grabbed my arm and pulled me in the direction of a couple of men dressed in dark blue Water Tribe clothes. He tapped on one of the men's shoulder, who turned around towards us. He had long brown hair pulled into the same ponytail that Sokka has, and a goatee to match. "Dad, I want you to meet (y/n),"
"Ah, so this is the infamous (y/n)," Sokka's dad said as he stepped towards me. Though he said it in a friendly way, I couldn't help but be slightly nervous. "I've heard a lot about you,"
