~*^))^& POV~
If only I knew you were suffering, too. I would've helped, you know? Instead of being so selfish. You should've told me your inner demons. It would've made me feel useful for once. But no, we had to hide everything from one another with fake smiles, pretending everything was fine in this digitalized hell hole. I miss you, and I know you miss me, too. It's not your fault.
I'm sorry.
~Y/N's POV~
Me and Pomni successfully made our way over to the volleyball net, where Gangle and Zooble were waiting, having some sort of conversation with one another. Once they saw us coming over, they stopped talking and glanced over at us.
"You two are here for the volleyball game, too?" Zooble questioned with their arms crossed.
"Uh, yeah," Pomni responded. "You two are, as well?"
Zooble shrugged with a huff. "Yeah, unfortunately. I didn't really want to play, but I didn't want to leave Gangle playing volleyball with Jax of all people, so I decided to tag along."
Gangle glanced off to the side, looking uncomfortable at the mention of the purple bunny that I'm pissed at. "Mhm. I don't want him to break my comedy mask again. I just got it fixed this morning and it always seems to break somehow."
"Not to pry or anything, but why did you want to play in the first place when Ragatha asked, when you knew your comedy mask could break?" I questioned the ribbon girl with a raised eyebrow.
"...I felt bad for declining," Gangle muttered with a sigh and Zooble nodded in confirmation.
"Yeah. Besides, we have nothing better to do, so might as well," they chimed in. "Why did you two want to play? Are you just bored."
Pomni looked over at me before shrugging. "Yeah, kinda. We were just talking and didn't really have anything to do."
I nodded, confirming what the jester told those two. While the conversation continued, my mind was occupied as fear started eating away at my heart. But it was a different type of fear. It wasn't the usual fight-or-flight fear that I normally felt. This type of fear was more coated with anticipation yet also this strange sense of terror. I couldn't explain why, but I could guess why, and it probably has something to do with seeing Jax again, and I did not want to converse with him right now.
"Alright, I brought the other two," Ragatha's voice said, snapping me out of my thoughts. I turned around and saw Kinger and Jax following Ragatha. Kinger looked pretty content, or as content as a chess piece looked, while Jax looked smug as ever, that same grin was displayed on his face and it's the same grin I want to punt with a volleyball.
"Oh, great, so...how do we start?" Pomni wondered as she eyed the volleyball that was in Ragatha's hands.
"Well, we should get into teams," Ragatha started. "Since we have odd numbers, one team will have a sub-in and one person will have to sit out for the first couple rounds."
"I'll sit out first," I said a little bit too quickly. "Um, if that's fine with everyone else."
Ragatha looked a bit uneasy at how quick I volunteered, but nodded, regardless. "Uh, yeah-- yeah! That works. Y/N, you can pick what team you want to be a sub-in for once the teams are picked."
"Alright, sounds good to me," I told her as I stood by the side lines, watching everybody converse with one another and getting into their respective teams. All I knew is that I didn't want to be on a team with Jax unless Pomni was on that team (though, I don't know why she would willingly be on a team with Jax, especially knowing how he treated what I confided to him).
