"WHAT DO YOU MEAN THERE IS A BLOODY BARRICADE?"

I

The use of a barricade is to stop, impede, obstruct. It was used by Charles Whitman to stop anyone coming towards the tower.

"ARE YOU SHOOTING PIGEONS?"

II

*Ray Ines and Uma Ines*, (not there real names), arrived at the Tower. Ray said: "Are you shooting pigeons?", he asked.

"No", Charles Whitman answered. He was on one of the couches. He cocked two rifles in his hands; he smiled.

"Well, can we pass? Are you the janitor?", *Ray Ines* asked.

"No; no. I'm a Marine. But there's something I need to do", Charles Whitman answered. He smiled. And he let the Austin, Texas couple alone.

III

Then *Mister James Wall*, his wife *Stella Wall*, and *Don, Mary, their teenage sons *Rod and *Ray Jones, (not their real names), arrived.

When they remarked on the barricade, Charles Whitman shot them dead. And, then, the terror started.
