How To Train Your Dragon

Chapter 7

Toothless gently landed on the front steps of Gothi's house high up in the mountain and shifted himself to where Hiccup could dismount him and land on the floor gently. Once she did that, they both walked up to the front door and Hiccup was about to knock when the door was opened by none other than Gothi herself. Even though the moon was high above them, to signal that it was midnight, they could clearly see that Gothi was expecting them to arrive right at this moment. "H-hi Gothi. I was informed that you requested a private meeting with me," stuttered Hiccup nervously.

"Yes, Hiccup and don't worry for I am here to inform you of your destiny," Gothi said reassuringly.

"Wait, you can talk?" Hiccup asked in bewilderment.

Gothi nodded her head yes and gestured for her to come in. Not wanting to let the warm fire go out, Hiccup walked into the house, with Toothless not far behind her, and sat down on an offered chair in the middle of the room. While Hiccup did that, Gothi shut the door behind Toothless and locked it to make sure that nobody could get in to interrupt what she was about to say to Hiccup. After she done that, she went over to where the fire was and added another log to it to keep the heat going from here. "So how come you never speak much in front of us?" Hiccup asked curiously after a few moments of silence.

"I usually never do because it's not the way a shaman is supposed to communicate with others. But the gods would understand why I am talking tonight," Gothi replied softly as she sat down on a chair across from Hiccup's and gave Hiccup a warm smile.

Smiling back Hiccup was about to ask the reason why Gothi was talking tonight before Gothi said "The reason I am speak is because of a danger I have to warn you about. Hiccup, the Red Death felt your shift and is on its way here. It won't be here tonight but it is planning on being here soon and you must be ready for it by then. I know why you have been gone for six months and I have to say that you are even wiser and stronger than you think Hiccup. You may have been born a Hiccup. But you were always a Viking shifter. I believed in that and never stopped."

"Thanks Gothi. Wish I could've had this told earlier about my reason for being here," said Hiccup tearfully.

"Don't Hiccup. We can't change the past but we can change the future that is ahead of us. Okay?" Gothi asked wisely.

Hiccup nodded her head yes and waited for Gothi to continue. "So anyway, Hiccup what I wanted to also tell you about was your second shift. You will shift into your halfway Night Fury form but you will also exhibits traits from an unknown species of dragons that Bork the Bold hasn't heard about before. But it will help you in the battle when the time comes. However, if the Red Death comes here before your second shift, it will be all over and the battle will be lost to us forever. So you must prepare for your second shift because it will be sort-of painful but not in the way you would expect it to be."

Gothi paused before looking out the window behind her for a moment, then turning back to Hiccup and saying, in a warning tone, "You must tell no one of your second shift powers or the Red Death will be here before you know it. But I'm afraid that is all the time I have right now with you. If I continue this onwards, then the gods will not be pleased with my actions. So Hiccup, be safe and train harder than before because I believe in you and it isn't safe to hold a grudge against the teens for what they did in the past. You must let it go or you will never unlock that special ability inside of you child. Tell your father that I wish to confront him tomorrow morning about the past."

After Gothi said those words, she hopped down from her chair and unlocked the door to allow Hiccup to head home. Smiling, Hiccup thanked Gothi before heading out with Toothless and flying straight home towards her room. When they flew in, Hiccup didn't expect Heather to be sleeping in her bed already asleep. It was like she was waiting for Hiccup to come home but fell asleep before she could do that.

Yawning, Hiccup just went over to the other side of the bed and climbed into it before falling into a deep sleep with Toothless curled up on the bottom of the floor beside her.

Hiccup ran through the forest and past the village towards her home with her bullies not far behind her. She could tell that she was running low on stamina due to not eating that much food this morning for breakfast and she has been running from them all morning, but she kept on going. Suddenly wing beats sounded from behind her and she was no longer running but falling.

She could feel the heat of a fire from behind her and looked back to see herself falling towards an explosion. Looking up, Hiccup could see Toothless spinning in circles trying to fly towards her. But it was too late as the flames consumed her. Expecting death, she only experienced another shift in her dreams.

This time she was laying on the floor of her home in her room covered in bruises and cuts all over. She looked around for something to use to get rid of the pain. Spotting one of her old daggers, she ran towards it with the little strength she had left and eagerly grabbed it from her desk. Raising it above her head, Hiccup was prepared to end it all when she felt a shift in the air. Stopping what she was doing, she could hear a gentle voice tell her that everything is going to be okay and that she doesn't have to do this.

Hiccup wanted to believe the voice but couldn't as the voices of what those people said, and called her, rang through her head before they mysteriously disappeared. The voice appeared in her head again saying that she was better than them and that she was special. It said that the day will come when she can prove herself to them and warned about the dangers of what could happen if Hiccup ended it all right now.

Resolving to do what the gentle voice said, Hiccup reluctantly set down her dagger and crawled back over in a corner, far from her doorway, and cried herself to sleep. The next day, when her father found her like that, he just rolled his eyes and thought she was going through a phase before leaving her there like that.

Suddenly the scene changed one more time and this time, Hiccup was in the Dragon's Nest. Hiccup could definitely see that it was the same way Toothless described it and the dragons just dumped everything they had in their claws down in a hole. Why don't they eat any of it? she wondered to herself.

Soon her question was answered when a Gronckle dropped in a few tiny fishes before flying upwards towards the ledge where her babies were. Before the Gronckle could reach it, another dragon popped out from the hole and ate the Gronckle whole in one chomp. It was bigger than anything Hiccup had ever seen and had six small eyes with large nostrils while having a blue scale tone and a coral crown around the top of its head. It even had red spikes from the middle of its nostrils to the middle of its forehead.

The dragons backed away from it and hid on their ledges in fear of what this dragon could do to them by swallowing them whole as well. Hiccup looked around at the dragons with concern because no dragon was ever wanting to challenge this species of dragon at all because it struck fear in their hearts and made them do whatever it wanted to. Looking down at the Red Death, as it slowly made its descendant back into the hole, Hiccup vowed to kill this Red Death even if it costs her, her own life. Then she head something come up behind her and shoot at her...

And she woke up in cold sweat yelling a bit out of fear of what just happened. Breathing in and out heavily, Hiccup was able to calm herself down with a reminder that it was just a dream. We will defeat this thing soon. I made that promise and I will stop it before it kills anymore dragons, Hiccup thought angrily to herself as she pulled the covers upwards again and Hiccup was able turn over to her side and go back to sleep with a smile on her face as she reminded herself of the training she will do tomorrow.
