It had only been 16 years. 16 years of your useless life and you were already sick of it all.

Sick of the lies. The hate. The hurt. The sadness and betrayal. You were sick of everything.

November 6th, 2022

Today was another horrible day filled with the usual routine. Wake up, eat, trudge to school, survive school, trudge back home, do homework, sleep and repeat. You had been picked on again, as usual but, surprisingly, had managed not to hit anyone yet.

Usually you would go home and do homework but not today. Today you were planning something different. You see, today at 3pm was the grand launch of the newest full dive game Sword Art Online. And you were going to play it.

You took your blazer off and changed in to some comfortable clothes. You then placed the nerve gear on your head and took a deep breath.

"Link start!"

Those two words were all it took to change your life forever.

Everyone was desperately running around in panic, screaming and crying. You knew that if you were going to survive this game you would have to move quickly. Deciding that there was no place for you in this town you started to run away from it, not looking back once.

You had stopped to break for a little while and decided to check your inventory to see what you had available to you.

Whilst Scrolling through you came across and unknown item. You pressed on it and in front of you appeared a magnificent midnight blue one handed sword. You reached out and examined it, fascinated by its beauty and how easily it fit into your hand.

You saw a nearby boar and smirked.

'Time to test out my new toy,' you thought to yourself.

Grinning you stealthily snuck behind the boar and charged your sword with an attack mode. Once it glowed bright blue you let out a battle cry and swung at the boar, leaving a large pixelated gash on its side. It cried out in pain as you slashed and hacked until suddenly it dropped dead in front of you, disappearing into tiny pixels.

You hadn't killed it though. The attractive boy in front of you had. You stared at him for a good while mostly in outrage that he had taken what was totally your kill, mostly at how a guy as cute as him could be stuck in this death game. He had grey and black eyes that shone and midnight black hair that looked so soft.

"What the hell was that?!" You shouted after staring at him.

"A wild boar," he replied.

"No! What, you just totally took what was obviously my kill!" You yelled at him.

"You looked like you needed help. You can't die on your first day, right?" He replied.

You punched him lightly in the shoulder and sighed.

"Thanks, I guess," you said, "what's your name?" You asked.

"Kirito," he replied, "what's yours?"

"(Y/an)," you said.

"Nice...hey, (y/an) I know we just met and all but would you like to party with me?"

You grinned and agreed, knowing that this was gonna be great.

January 23rd, 2023

It had been a few months since SAO had started and no one had got past the first floor boss yet. Today, you and Kirito were going to a meeting discussing the plans about it. You were slightly distracted though as over the past few months, you had started to develop a crush on Kirito.

A 'knight' called Diabel lead the talk and you and Kirito decided to party with a girl called Asuna for the mission. Your task was to keep swapping with Kirito and Asuna to distract the boss.

The boss had just hit Diabel and while Kirito went to help him you and Asuna kept fighting.

You weaved in and out almost like a dance, constantly stabbing and slashing at the boss until suddenly you were swept off your feet and slammed against the wall, the breath knocked out of you.

You heard the word Baka yelled loudly and saw Kirito charge the boss before it all went black.

When you woke up you saw Kirito's worried face infront of you.

"(Y/an)! You're alive!" He exclaimed and held you close.

He stopped suddenly and pulled away to face you.

"(Y/an), I care about you... A lot... and... I promise that... that I will always protect you no matter what (y/an)!"

Your breath hitched in your throat as you hugged Kirito back tightly and kissed him, ecstatic that someone in this world cared for you.
