All night

We all walked to the car, enjoying our ice cream, just talking about whatever we thought about. No one cared where the conversation was going and no one tried to direct it. It was 8:15 and we were all excited and jumping around. The night was young and we didn't have any plans. We all piled up in the black  Suburban that Calum picked me up in. Driving, we were joking around, jamming to some old, scratched up rock album. Calum was in the drivers seat, Luke beside him messing with the radio, Chloee and I in the middle row, and Ashton and Michael were in the back. It finally occurred to me what was happening; as I sat there in the presence of these punk gods I realized that even though they were insanely famous and super busy they went out of their way to make time for me. A small town girl who dreamt of things outside of what my little town could provide. A few years ago if you told me I was going to be friends with them I'd probably just roll my eyes and say 'Yeah right. And your a unicorn.' Without thinking I leaned forward and kissed both Luke and Calum on the cheek. They laughed and Luke said, "What was that for?" I could feel the beginning of a smile form at the corners of my mouth. "Everything." I replied. I turned around quickly and saw Michael and Ashton staring at me like I was some deranged monster. I smiled and wiggled my eyebrows at them. "Come on. Bring it in." Michael groaned but leaned forward stiffly, Ashton just laughed and joined him, he wasn't as reluctant as Michael. I pecked Ashton on the cheek and then as I was leaning towards Michael he quickly  turned his head and licked my cheek. "Ugh! You're so disgusting!" He was laughing and hid behind the seat dividing us. I rolled over the seat and playfully punched him in the back. He sat up and looked at me and I used his shirt to wipe off my chin. "Sorry," he said still laughing. " I couldn't resist. It was too perfect." Ashton looked at Michael with a disgusted look. "You are so gross." We all laughed at his remark and Calum looked at Michael in the reflection of the mirror, "Hey, back off man. It took me weeks to get the courage to kiss her, then you come along licking her? Know your limits." I crawled back over the seat and kissed Calum's cheek again. He laughed and Michael threw an empty water bottle towards the front. "I'm watching y'all." Chloee giggled and said, "Ok guys. I'm tired of riding. Where are we going?" We all glanced around and shrugged our shoulders. I was thinking then suddenly remembered an old field that no one uses anymore. "Hey, Calum, is that big blanket still in the back?" Looking up from the road he said, "Yeah. It should be. Why?" "Well there is this old field a few miles down the road. No one uses it anymore. I was thinking we could just go hang out. Watch the stars, lay around, do whatever." " Yeah that sounds cool!" Ashton was already reaching in the back pulling out the large, tattered blanket. A few minutes later we were pulling into a gas station parking lot. We got drinks, snacks, and we even picked up a few glow sticks and sparklers. Not long after we were at the abandoned field. We got out of the car and stretched our legs. Chloee and Luke took the blanket from Ashton and laid it out on the ground. It was big enough that we could all lay down. Luke and Ashton laid down first stretching out, covering most of the blanket. "Scoot over." Michael lightly kicked Luke and he rolled closer to Ashton. Michael laid down and groaned, "Oh yeah! This feels good." Laughing I plopped down beside Luke on the blanket, that to my surprise was really comfortable. Calum and Chloee found empty spots on the edges of the blanket. I rolled over and Calum was two inches in front of me. "Well hey there." "Hi. Fancy meeting you here." A slight smile was forming and he let out a little laugh. I rolled my eyes and looked up at the sky, the stars were beautiful. The sky was cloudless so you could see every thing. After what felt like forever the silence finally broke when someone let out a little giggle. I sat up and looked around and noticed Chloee and Michael looking at each other, deep in conversation. I rolled my eyes and stood up. I picked up the sparklers lit one as I began doodling in the air then Calum, Luke, and Ashton joined me we were running around chasing each other and writing things in the darkness. It was dark so I was running, seeing only with the low light that the sparkler gave off. My foot hit something and I tripped, flying through the air. I landed on the blanket and rolled over on my back, catching my breath. "Are you ok?" Chloee stood up and grabbed my hand. "Ugh. Yeah I think so." Luke, Ashton, and Calum jogged over. "What happened?" I sat up gasping for breath. "I tripped over something." Wheezing I stood up breathing heavily. "Um. Yeah me." Michael stood up holding his ribs. "Oh my God, I'm so sorry!" I walked over after I regained my breath. "It's fine it's  just a little sore." Luke slapped him on the back "Awe. You'll get over it. Toughen up." We all laughed and Chloee walked over and hugged Michael. "That feels better." Chloee stepped back and laughed. I looked down at my phone and it was 1:15. "I'm hungry." "Calum, you're always hungry." Calum rolled his eyes and lightly punched Luke in the arm. Luke faked a small cry and punched Calum back. "There is some food in the back." Calum looked up at me and said, "Oh yeah. Thanks." He walked towards the car then stopped suddenly, turning around saying,"I may need some help. These bags are really heavy." I laughed as he smiled. "I'll come." "Great. Thanks." I jogged over to him and we walked to the car. When we were a few yards away from everyone else he wrapped his arm around my waist. "Hey," he squeezed me closer to him and I wrapped my arm around him. "Hi." When we got to the car he leaned down and kissed me. At first his lips just lightly brushed mine as if he was letting them get aquatinted. Then I kissed him back, sending electricity down my body. He pulled me closer to him. I ran my fingers through his dark hair and he pushed me backwards against the car. "Ow!" He pulled away slightly and looked down at his knee. "What s wrong?" "I hit my knee on the trailer hitch." I looked at him and attempted to suppress my laughter. He walked to the drivers seat, wincing when he put pressure on his leg. I followed him and looked at his knee. His ripped jeans made it easier to see; It was red and looked a little swollen. I gently touched it applying a little pressure. "Does this hurt?" "A little." He bit his lip and smiled. "Just my luck," he said. I reached for his hand and he laced his fingers with mine. I gave him a gentle squeeze. "I finally find someone who I really like and screw up. Make a big fool out of myself." I squeezed his hand one more time and said, "No, no you didn't." He smirked and looked down at his knee that was beginning to regain its natural color. "Do you think you can walk on it?" He slid out of the car and walked a few feet away. He wasn't limping as bad or wincing every time he put pressure on it. That was a good sign. "Yeah I think I'm good." I walked towards the back and he met me there. "I think we should get these snacks and head back before the others start wondering where we went." He opened the trunk and began pulling out the bags, handing me one before he closed the trunk. I stopped him. "One more thing," I kissed him lightly then pulled away. "What was that for?" "I really like you too." I began walking off and didn't look back until I heard the thud of the trunk being closed. He was standing beside the car smiling and shaking his head. He turned and jogged to me. I was already a few yards away when he caught up. We walked in silence for a while letting each other's company speak for itself. I felt something brush against my hand then quickly pull away, it happened twice. On the third time I stopped abruptly and looked at him thankful for the dark because I was pretty sure I was a dark shade of red. He stopped a few inches in front and turned around. "What?" I said nothing but just smiled as I grabbed his hand and gave it a little squeeze. "Let's go." I was to happy to say anything else.
