My mom...He just said my mom's name...No way...No way! I shakily stood and tried to ignore the knot in my stomach. Vegeta is sleepy and delusional right now...That story is probably fake anyways...Yeah, he's sleepy and lying. That's it! "Well you get some rest, Veggie. I'll wake you up in a hour." He nodded and leaned back against the Isolation Chamber, falling into a deep sleep.
I ran out into the hall and flung myself against the wall. He knew my mom! He saved her! This is too much. Goku, please wake up so you can help me understand what the hell Vegeta just told me. I got dizzy and lightheaded and headed outside to get some air and see what Gohan was up to.
I found Gohan patiently sitting on a Dragon Ball that was larger than his own head, staring off into space. He looks so cute...I should scare him! Lowering my energy, I snuck up behind him, and when I got close enough, I screamed. He shrieked and fell off of the Dragon Ball, falling onto the floor. He jumped up after a few moments of me collapsing into a fit of giggles and playfully hit me.
"Nani! Don't do that! For a second I thought you were Frieza!"
I continued to laugh until it hurt, tears gathering in my eyes. The color rushed back into Gohan's face. "I love you Gohan, but kiddo, you gotta loosen up." He pouted as I ruffled his hair. "Look, your dad is here and recovering. Everything will be alright."
He sighed and mounted his Dragon Ball. "I know, Nani, but I just have a real bad feeling about fighting Frieza."
I mounted the closest Dragon Ball and reached my hand out to his head, guiding it to my shoulder. "Can I be honest? I do too but hey, we're all going to be okay and when we get back to Earth, I think I'll teach you how to heal like me."
He perked up, immediately. "You promise!?" He thrusted out his pinky finger to me.
"Pinky swear!" We interlaced pinkies and he laughed his worries away with excitement of the future. "So, why do you keep calling me Nani?"
"Because it's cute and it...it sounds like 'Mommy'..." He paused for a second then looked at me with seriousness. "Can I call you mommy?"
My face went hot with appreciation but I shook my head. "No sweetie, I'm sorry. That name is reserved for your real mommy only." He frowned a bit. "I appreciate the gesture though and anyways, I like the name 'Nani' better. It's cute."
"Well it suits you then, Nani." He grinned at me and we both laughed. Our laughter was cut off by the raging energy of Frieza, across the planet. I glanced behind us, towards where Krillin headed off and hoped he would get back to the ship soon. "Do...Do you feel that?" Gohan asked, stunned by the sheer amount of Frieza's energy.
"Yeah but let's not focus on that." I paused, thinking of a way to distract my precious little warrior. "Tell me about your adventures here before everything got crazy."
Gohan turned towards me, his uniform making small noises from the spandex rubbing against itself. "Well..." He trailed off and began to describe to me, in detail, his adventures on the spaceship with Bulma and Krillin. He even went into the craziness of looking for the Dragon Balls here and trying to avoid getting caught or killed, especially when he risked his life to save Dende, a small Namekian child.
I already knew what he would say since I saw most of it from Krillin's point of view when Goku read his mind but I just wanted to hear Gohan talk. I wanted to hear how his voice would get when he got scared or excited; I wanted him to know that I was here and willing to listen, on edge, to every word he excitedly stumbled over.
He finished his story with blacking out after Recoome kneed him and his dad reviving him with a Senzu Bean. A rolling Dragon Ball caught our attention and we got up to see what was going on. "Um..."
