Chapter 2

"Maya!" someone yelled. Maya already knew the voice.

It had a Texas accent.

It was a guy.

Nope, a Huckleberry.

Riley looked at her best friend and Maya turned around.

"Howdy." she said and tipped her imaginary hat.

"Yeah ok. Where do you want to meet? Your house?" Lucas asked. Maya panicked.

"No!" she yelled scaring her friends. "I mean not my house."

"Ok..." Lucas replied concerned. "My place?"

"Yeah, yeah that'll work." Maya tells him and he walked away confused about her outburst.

Why can't he go over to her house?

He knew Katy, why not?

"Maya?" Farkle questioned. "What was that about?"

"Nothing. I don't want Ranger Rick in my house. That's it." Maya shrugged.

"Maya, you don't even let me over at your house anymore!" Riley complained.

"I just don't like people over at my house anymore." Maya explained. "Come on, let's go to Topanga's."

"Fine, but we want a better explanation then that!" Riley said as her and Farkle followed Maya to there favorite place.

-

"Ok, Mr. Matthews says we have to get to know each other better." Lucas read off the paper. Maya, of course, was in her own little world. The one with all of her dead dreams.

Her dead ballerinas stabbing and kicking her.

Her dead Josh dream, which she started to lose hope with.

And most importantly, her dead father-daughter dream.

There were so many dead reams there.

But there was also some good things.

For example, dead Randy.

That was the one thing Maya really wishes for.

How is her mother so blind about this?

"Maya!" lucas yelled scaring Maya.

"I don't wake you up from your naps!" she yelled.

"I asked for your favorite color." he told her.

"Yellow." she shrugged and Lucas looked at her.

"Yellow? Really?" he asked.

"Well yeah, let me guess yours is red from all you plaid shirts!" she said in her accent.

"It is." Lucas sighed.

"I knew it!" Maya cheered and Lucas rolled his eyes. They both wrote down the answers and continued.

For once, Maya was actually having fun.

"Ok, have you ever had a girlfriend?" Maya asked once they finished.

"Yeah, her name was Hayley. Broke my heart after a week." he said.

"What happened?" Maya asked curious.

"Nothing, what about you? Boyfriend?" he asked.

"If you count Farkle." she mumbled still curious about Hayley.

"Eh." Lucas shrugged. Maya looked outside only to see darkness. She jumped up to her feet.

"What time is it?" she asked panicked while throwing everything into her bookbag.

"Um, 8:12." lucas read off his watch. Maya stood frozen for a second.

"He's going to kill me." she whispered and gathered everything up.

"Huh?" Lucas asked.

"Nothing. I have to go. I'm sorry." Maya said and raced to the door. Lucas grabbed her wrist.

"Let me walk you home and explain." he said. Maya ripped her wrist out of his hand and opened the door.

"No! You can't go to my house!" she yelled and went out the door.

"Maya!" Lucas yelled. She faced him with tears in her eyes.

"I'm sorry." she whispered and sprinted home leaving Lucas confused.

-

"MAYA!" Randy yelled when Maya tried to sneak in. Maya jumped and trembled with fear when she heard him yell.

"I told you every night in here by 7!" he yelled and punched her in the face, causing her to fall.

And that was the worst night of Maya's life.
