Chapter Two-Peace No More

Roxy: Present day (About six months after Alpha Mates and Hunter's endding)

I woke up to the familiar smell of food cooking, and the faint smell of Hue on the bed beside me. I kept my eyes closed for a moment longer, listening to him move around the kitchen. Since the first day he came, he's been cooking for me. But that was half a year ago during the fall. He lived with me in my cabin all through the rest of the fall, and all of winter. It's still the beginning of spring. The flowers are blooming, and you can tell love is in the air for the city.

Jinx and Jingle tease me about if there will be any love babies conceived this spring, but that usually gets them a look that shuts them up. Me and Hue haven't gone father than making out, and I don't plan for that to change any time soon. After all, we've only been together for about half a year. Even if we are mates. I'm waiting, and he will weather he wants to or not.

I get up and walk into the kitchen and lean agianst the door frame in my big T and panties. I watch Hue cook in his boxers that have pictures of some cartoon character I don't recognize. He curses when he burns his finger, then puts his finger in his mouth and sucks on it for a second. I smile and watch him.

"Stupid pan."

He mutters then grabs a plate and puts the food onto and grabs another and puts the rest on it. I watch, smiling. He turns and smiles at me. I smile back and elbow off the wall, then go over and sit on the counter.

"Morning." I say.

"Morning." He kisses me. "Did you sleep good?"

"Yea." I take my plate and eat. "Yum. This is good."

"Isn't it always?"

"Funny."

I roll my eyes and eat. He watches me eat, eating his food as well. I finish before him as usual and get put my dishes in the sink. I feel his arms wrap around me after he puts his dishes in the sink. I lean back and smile when I feel something poking my tail bone.

"Happy much?" I tease.

"Maybe I am." I turn and look at him.

"Well sorry to say but I'm going into the city. You should go home and check on the Town Pack. I'll see you here tonight." I kiss his cheek then go get dressed. "Bye Hue."

I say then walk to the city. I check in with Natalya, Jynx, Jingle, Killer, and Poe before I patrol the city. I know the Hunter left half a year ago, but I know she's not done with my territory. The only thing that's stoping her is her Hunter Council. I don't trust her all the same.

All of a sudden I get a feeling in the pit of my stomach and stop. I feel like someones watching m e, so I look around. I decide to take a detour and go down an alley and climb a wall to the roof. I stnad on the roof and listen for a knife flying at me, or a gun being cocked or shot, or even a silver tipped arrow flying thorugh the air at me. But there's none. I look across the roof tops, still feeling like I'm being watched. I see no one on the roofs as far as I could see, but I could feel someone watching me still.

"I know your out there." I say knowing the wind will carry it. "So com on out."

No one appears. Everything stays silent, but the feeling is still there. I frown and climb back down and keep walking. I won't let the feeling get to me, but I trust my instincts all the same.

Plus, it wasn't the first time I've felt it. I feel everytime I'm alone in the city.
