Hey all.

"Are you sure you'll be alright?"

Nod.

"Maybe I should stay."

Shake.

"I don't feel comfortable leaving you with him."

Glare.

"Alright, I'm going. Call me the millisecond you get home, alright?"

Nod.

"Dammit Ashley, say something!"

She looked at him.

"Thank you." She whispered.

His eyes softened, "I'll always be there for you Ash."

She squeezed her eyes shut to stop the tears but stubborn tear managed to roll down her cheek.

"No one's ever said that to me before." She whispered, looking at him with glowing eyes.

Marcus had never seen Ashley so vulnerable.

He placed his hands over both her cheeks and wiped off the stray tear. "Ash," He whispered, "You have friends. You have people who love you. You'll never be alone again."

She nodded.

"No more crying?" He asked.

She snorted, "I'm not a kid, bozo."

He grinned, "That's my girl."

And he promptly turned the colour of a tomato.

"Uh, I meant, you know, not my my girl, it's not like you're my girl. I just meant, you know, in the most-"

He glared at Ashley, "Quit laughing at me."

She kept giggling, "But you're such an idiot."

He shook his head and smiled, "At least it made you smile."

She grinned.

"I'll see you in school tomorrow?" He asked, a hopeful tone to his voice.

She frowned, "Only if I survive the dishwashing at work today."

He shook his head at her, "You know what? Maybe I'll stop by later. I need to see you struggling to load the dishwasher."

She glared and threw a hula girl at him.
