Last class had just finished and I was wandering out of the building, "Johnny!" I heard a familiar voice call over the muttering and conversing students. I looked over my shoulder to see Ponyboy jogging up to me. "Wanna come round today?" He questioned when he had caught up "Uhh sure, I don't really wanna go home." Pony knew about my parents and was kind enough to not talk about them and in return I did the same. I didn't speak about his parents, they died in a car crash a few years back and he lives with his older brothers Darry and Sodapop, both of whom I had already met. My thoughts were cut short by his disembodied voice, "You can meet the gang today, well except Steve. You met him already, Soda's buddy." I glanced up "Huh? Oh yeah, I know Steve." We shuffled out of the building and down the street towards his house while the whole way he excitedly informed me all about this 'gang'. Little did I know, I'd meet a boy I'd grow to love and call a brother.

I had been with the Curtis' gang for about an hour when a solitary figure appeared in the hallway, I shifted towards Pony and whispered "Who's that?" He looked round "That's Dallas Winston, I bet you've heard of him." he replied questioningly. I didn't speak just slowly nodded. I knew who Dallas Winston was alright, everyone in Tulsa did. He wasn't exactly a quiet well mannered person, but there was always something about the mysterious Dallas I admired and respected, maybe the fact he was so tough unlike me. Pony often referred to me as a nervous wreck. Dallas or as the gang called him 'Dally' must have sensed my presence as he soon had me in a headlock, "Hey Pony, who's your friend? Your boyfriend?" He joked before Soda butted in. "Lay off the kid Dal, he's Pony's buddy." suddenly my head was released and a hand was thrusted towards me, I flinched. "Dallas Winston" He stated proudly. I smirked a little, I knew I was gonna like this guy right off the bat. "Johnny Cade" I spoke with satisfaction as I took the hand offered to me.
