Three rules for a demon

Rule #1: Never starve a demon

July 29, Friday

Red eyes stared at the creamy white ceiling. His eyes seems to be staring at something else even though one could clearly tell that he is just staring at the wooden ceiling. He woke up long ago and he has been staring at the ceiling above for almost an hour now. What woke him from his slumber is the heaviness he felt on his chest. He may not be a morning person but seeing Lucy sleeping peacefully on top of him really made his morning.

"Was she really that tired that she fell asleep right on top of me?" Natsu thought as he peeked at Lucy. It amazed him that she was able to sleep in such a small space that the couch have offered her. What surprised him more is that the two of them were able to sleep together on the comfortable couch. Well at least she did not fall or anything.

"I wonder what she did yesterday that made her this exhausted" he thought again. But before he could even start guessing whatever she did or where ever she went with her friends, a ringing stopped him from thinking any further. The ringing came from the girl's bedroom and he guessed that it was coming from her daily alarm. With his keen sense of hearing, he can hear the alarm as clear as if like it is just beside him. Soon, the sound began to irritate his ears that he has no choice but to use his powers to silence it.

With his left hand raised as if a sign that he used his powers, the cute blue clock's alarm button was pressed by itself which stopped it from ringing. "Much better" the words came out of him in a whisper. He peeked at Lucy only to see her still sleeping comfortably on his chest.

Silence filled the house but for Natsu, he can hear the noises from the outside. Though despite of the noises that he hears outside, the only sound that his ears are focused on listening is Lucy's soft breathing. A smile creeping on his lips as he stares at his girlfriend's angelic sleeping face. "A wonderful morning indeed" he mumbled. "A wonderful morning to spend with your girlfriend" he corrected in his thoughts.

A good minute of staring at the girl's cute sleeping face has passed, Natsu starts to feel sleepy despite of the hours of sleep he just had. He may had a complete rest but it was not enough to cure the side effects of using his powers. Sure he used little bit of his energy, but the meaning of his lack of strength has some history behind it and has other reasons.

One of his reasons is that he skipped a meal. He unintentionally dozed off and completely fell asleep when Lucy arrived yesterday. He was deeply asleep that he forgot to even take his dinner. His second reason is that he woke up before his normal waking time. And the other reason was... No, this is not the right time to bring it up.

Just when he was about to close his demonic eyes, a vibration which soon followed by a sound halted him from falling asleep. He closed his eyes in annoyance while his hand searched for the vibrating object. Somehow, he managed to get a hold of the human technology which he found just beside him. "Lucy must be holding onto this while she's asleep" he said in his thoughts as he opens his eyes to look at the gadget.

The blue phone's screen flickered as it vibrated rhythmically along the ringtone. Blinded by the brightness that the phone is emitting, Natsu squinted. "Ah no wonder humans have poor eyesight" he thought and accidentally pressed a button on the side of the cellphone which made him end the phone call and in which made the phone to be back to its normal screen black color. Before he could even react to what he just did, Lucy hummed in her sleep as she pressed herself more to Natsu's warm body.
