Despite what people may think, James and Sirius are actually gentlemen. Mrs. Potter raised James properly and made sure he knew his manners. The amount of time Sirius spent with James and at the Potter's house taught him how to be the perfect gentleman and when he moved in he didn't have any more lessons to learn.
