When James and Lily started going out Sirius hated Lily because he was worried that Lily would steal James from him. For about a week Sirius avoided James and Lily because he was so scared of losing his best friend. When James finally asked him about what was wrong at first Sirius denied anything being wrong but, when he finally broke, he burst into tears because he didn't want James to abandon him just like his parents did. James assured Sirius that no one, not even Lily could ever replace him and that James was not going anywhere.
