You turn around to find... a skeleton?!
"well... don't leave me hanging..."
You turned around and shook his hand. His hand felt oddly warm. Just like the flower winking, this felt oddly familiar too.
"huh... kid, you okay?" His deep voice startled you. He had an accent you couldn't identify, but close to a New York accent.
"W-what? Yeah, yeah I'm fine." You blinked groggily, thinking this was a dream. You met a flower, a goat-lady... and now a skeleton?
"man kid, you look chilled to the bone!" His deep chuckle and his pun made you laugh. Then he stopped. "seriously kid, your skin is turning blue." He pointed at your hands, then your lip. But your lip was purple, meaning that you really needed to get out of the cold forest.
"O-oh... really?" You started shaking and stuttering. You put your hands on your arms, and rubbed them up and down. You gave out short breaths, turning into puffs of smoke as soon as they left your body.
He spoke again. "man, you look more than chilled, frozen almost. here you need this more than i do." He unzipped his coat, and wrapped it around you. You couldn't say you didn't need it. You lost the feeling in your hands, but not your cheeks - they were on fire. He must've noticed.
"woah, kid you alright?" All you could do is nod. You didn't want to speak, the silence was comforting, and you still had to thaw your hands.
"alright kid. looks like you need some shelter. follow me." He waved you over. You followed as you were told, and followed him into a town with a banner that said 'Snowdin'. You and him soon stopped at a house, which you presumed to be his house.
"alright kid... here's the thing," he stopped to take a deep breath. "my brother is wanting to join the 'royal guards'. even though we have 7 human souls, Asgore said we hunt them still as payback for the consequence of the war. the king has a wife. they broke up for while because she didn't agree with him. he still loves her, while she... could feel either way. she's trying to get him to change that rule. he said recently that the recent rule may change any day now."
He stopped as he saw that you had a puzzled look on your face. He sighed.
"maybe it wasn't best to tell you now. you're cold and you look like you could pass out any moment now." What he said wasn't a lie. You felt like you could fall asleep any second now. But you felt like it was the weather that was doing this, or a sickness had crossed your path, and your immune system was trying to fight it off. "but keep this in mind - Paps cooking isn't the best. just be careful if he offers you any food." You nodded.
He opened the door, and allowed you step in first.
"Thank you." You said as you walked through the doorway.
"no problem, kiddo." He grin grew even wider in his face - if that was even possible. It was then did you notice another skeleton. You noted that's probably just Papyrus. He was quite tall, especially when compared to you and Sans. It was also then you realized their names are fonts. You allowed a small laugh as you thought about that.
"NYEH? IS THAT A HUMAN?" He said as he looked in your direction. You jumped back as you notice how he could not use his 'inside voice'. "MAYBE I CAN CATCH IT TO JOIN THE ROYAL GUARD!" It was then he made his way to you, and you backed up a little farther than where Sans stood. You went behind him and let out a small whimper.
"woah, Pap, hold on this human is not gonna hurt anybody. right buddy?" He slightly turned his head toward you. You nodded at his response.
"WELL THEN, MIGHT AS WELL SEE IF THEY LIKE PUZZLES. ANYBODY THAT MY BROTHER SAYS IS HARMLESS, IS NOT WORTH HARMING FOR MY RIGHT, AND NOT THEIR'S." Papyrus's innocence was the kind you could only find in fairy-tales. This made you smile, and feel this weird feeling in your chest, and you didn't know how to explain it. You clutched your chest as you tried to catch a breath as you had this... heavy feeling on your chest. The two brothers noticed and looked concerned.
Sans was the first to speak up and ask what was wrong. "buddy... are you doin' alright?" Then his brother spoke.
"NYEH? HUMAN, ARE YOU OKAY?" You took a deep breath as you caught your breath from that short terrifying moment.
"Yeah. I just have this feeling on my chest. It makes it hard for me to breath." Papyrus looked clueless, while Sans looked like he knew what you were going on about.
"oh? that feeling? it's called DETERMINATION. have you ever felt DETERMINATION before?"
You shook your head no. You didn't even know how you were able to feel this... feeling. Papyrus then spoke up.
"FROM WHAT I KNOW," he took a pause, looking like he was thinking, then continued. "DETERMINATION HELPS YOU COMPLETE TASKS AND OTHER THINGS AND SUCH. IS THAT RIGHT SANS?" He looked like he just found out something not even science that could define this... wait a second.
"that's right. nice job Paps. you need DETERMINATION to do things. not just that, but bravery. do you understand kiddo?" This all just shocked you for a moment, but you nod and said that you understood.
Sans then whispered to you. "hey! if you need to know anything about this, you just ask me. I know what that is like." You whispered back to him to show that you understood what you were told.
"Thank you, Sans. I would appreciate that." His smile turned to a soft smile. He looked towards Papyrus and like he had just remembered something.
"hey kid, are you still tired? i think you should get some rest before Paps and i get to know you." You just followed Sans and said that you probably should, after almost being frozen to death.
"Sans, don't you need your coat? Now that I am inside, I don't really need it. It was only really for outside." You liked to worry about other people before yourself. It's how you just were. But you aren't that social. Once you knew somebody, they were more important then yourself. You had social anxiety, it was more like a family disease than anything.
"nah kid. if you still want to use it's fine with me. after all, nothing gets under my skin." You laughed at his joke, breaking the seriousness of this whole conversation. But while you were laughing, you heard Papyrus groan in the background, which made you laugh harder. Sans had joined your laughing with him chuckling, and wiping a non-existent tear.
"anyway," he said, continuing. "do you want to sleep out here in a room?" Wait, a room? Did he mean a room as in his or Papyrus's room. You decided to ask what he meant be that.
"A... room?" You tried sounding confused. But, you had to get an idea of what he meant.
"a room. as in the room i sleep in, or the room Paps sleeps in. that kind of room."
"I know what a room is already Sans." You chuckled. You had known what a room is, a least now you got a better understanding of what it was. "But which one?"
He blushed, and it was blue. He tried to cover it with his jacket. You thought to yourself; 'If he blushes blue, then does Paps blush orange?' You snapped out of your thoughts by Sans barely saying this out loud, "mine."
You felt your checks becoming hot and you felt a tad flustered. You wondered why.
And why it felt oddly familiar. Maybe...
Never mind.

How was that for a chapter, huh? Sans can be such a softie when he wants to be. Am I right, or am I right? Or maybe... your wrong. Anyway that should make a good second chapter, right my lovey lambs?
