Camille and Linus watched helplessly as Eli, smiling, passed by them carrying Kirsten's limp body. Liam followed suit but stopped and knelt beside Camille. Linus's shouts and curses of protest bounced off Liam like a tennis ball off of a brick wall.

"Finally, Kirsten's coming home." he mocked. Camille narrowed her coffee colored eyes at him.

"And to think I thought you were cute."

Liam only chuckled. "Well, now don't feel bad. Many people think just like you." he said with fake concern in his voice. He twiddled a section of Camille's hair in his fingers before quickly letting go and disappearing behind a tapestry, the sudden slam of a doorway filling their ears.

***

Cameron's wrist burned like a desert scorch as he knelt in front of the doorway, seeing tears streak down his face and hit the grimy floor with a meek splash. He took in a large breath and wiped away any stray tears. Emotions would not get the better of him. He slowly got up and realized he was trembling. He could not decipher whether it was because he frightened or because he was angry.

He dusted himself off and frantically scanned the area for anything that could help him escape. The pocket knife that Eli used to cut their binding ropes was still resting on the medical tray. He speedily grabbed the knife and threw it into his pocket, but nothing else useful could be found for opening the door.

Then, like a spark, a memory came to mind. He'd seen the technique be used in movies and by army soldiers.

"Here goes nothing." Cameron whispered to himself. He extended his right leg and delivered the hardest kick he could possibly muster. The door gave slightly and a small dent could be seen just underneath the doorknob. He delivered another kick with the same force. It gave a little more, then more and more......

His fifth and final kick delivered the deadly blow, turning Camille and Linus's heads. The steel door toppled over with a huge "bang." Cameron soon emerged into the main lab breathing heavily. Camille and Linus stared speechless at him as he ran over with the pocket knife and cut their ropes.

"Cameron! What the..." Camille breathed as she rubbed her wrist burns.

"Dude, I didn't know you could kick down doors!" Linus exclaimed patting Cameron on the back.

"Yeah, neither did I until like 2 seconds ago," Cameron said looking back at the dented metal door. "Did you see where they went with Kirsten?"

"Yeah, they went behind that tapestry there. I'm pretty sure there's a door behind it. Liam basically gave it away." Linus said. Cameron nodded and began to stride towards the tapestry, but Camille stopped him.

"Hold on Speedy Gonzalez. They escaped by car, and last time we checked," she said, gesturing to Linus and Cameron, "we don't have a car."

Cameron walked past the tapestry opened another metal door facing him with Linus and Camille close behind. A smile crept across Cameron's face.

"We don't have to worry about that." He reached over and turned on the garage light. A obsidian colored Maserati Granturismo Sport sat idling right in front of them. Camille's jaw dropped while Linus's eyes widened childishly.

Cameron got into the drivers seat with Linus in the passenger.

"Who said that you got the passenger seat?" Camille asked Linus with her arms folded.

"Since I'm Cameron's best friend, I get first dibs!" Linus said mimicking her. Camille suddenly smacked Linus on the upside of his head with her palm before climbing into the back seat.

Cameron pressed the garage door opener hanging over his head revealing the blinding sun streaming into the chamber. Linus and Camille instinctively put their hands over their eyes, but Cameron simply ignored it and punched the gas. The Granturismo swiftly turned the corner onto a busy LA street, narrowly missing some daily commuters. Camille hid her head in her arms to stop herself screaming.

"Cameron!"

"Sorry! Save Kirsten now, safe driving later!" Cameron retorted. His mind was tuned to the drips of oil leading out into the street, and they were not coming from the Maserati.
