this was it.. tonight was the night which could make or break everything. I turned myself around in front of my mirror, probably for the fiftieth time. Even though I was satisfied, I didn’t know if it was good enough..

I wasn’t the prettiest girl alive, but I had some good features that were on perfect display tonight. The dress was a little green number, tight in all the right places, with tiny ruches all over it. On top, I wore a small, black jacket, accentuating my waistline, while my panty and impossibly high- black heels, added some length to my small body. It was a good thing that I wouldn’t be walking all night.

The doorbell rang, and I crept down the stairs, holding on to the railing for dear life, in fear of breaking all my bones if I’d fall in my heels. ‘I’m out, see you tomorrow!’ I yelled to the closed door behind which my parents were.

I didn’t even hear their answers, because I was already out the door, slamming it behind me and hugging Liam. ‘You look lovely!’ he complimented, which immediately made me blush. He grabbed my hand, walking me towards his car, where he kept the door open until I was seated. Part one of the plan; start now.

The park was deserted, again. My hands were on my knees, my palms sweaty while I looked at the setting sun. my hands went through my hair, for the thousandth time, a trait of mine when I’m feeling insecure or nervous. Where were they?

‘Liaaaaaam… what are we doing here?’ a whiney voice asked, loud and clear. I said up straight, my heart thumping in my chest. This was it, this was the first part of the plan.

‘Can’t we go back, I wanna watch tv.. it’s cold here.. liaaaaam.. it’s wet..’ he whined on and on. I heard Liam laugh dryly before he answered. ‘No, you can’t go back.’ Finally, they got in my view, rounding the bend in the path.

His mouth fell open when he saw me, and I swear I felt like stabbing myself for what I was about to do. ‘Amber..’ he sighed, while he walked towards me, instantly forgetting about his whining.  I gave my thumbs up to Liam, who mouthed ‘good luck’ to me, and then walked off again.

I silently patted the empty spot on the park bench were I was sat. ‘You look beautiful Amber.’ He said, finally regaining composure, while he sat down next to me, still watching me closely. I adverted my eyes, watching the sandy parkway.

‘Harry.. we need to talk.’ I felt him tense up beside me, and I could see him shaking his head, his quiffed curls flying everywhere. ‘It’s just.. I really like you..’

He puffed his breath out, relaxing at my words. I looked up, seeing him still watching me, a crease between his eyes, his lopsided grin on display. ‘But..’ I knew he wouldn’t like this, and I was so sorry for doing this. ‘I love Niall.’ I whispered, watching his reaction apprehensive.

He was still watching me, a look of understanding in his eyes. ‘I know.’ He breathed out, seemingly disappointed. He smiled, even though it was weak, and grabbed my hand in his large one. ‘I’m sorry, for everything amber, I don’t know why I did it. It’s just.. you’re something special.. and you know me, I couldn’t stop myself.’ He laughed, hard and dry, before getting serious again.

‘But seriously, you and Niall should fix things.’ He added, nodding at his own words. I smiled back at him. This was so much easier than I thought it would be. I pulled him in for a hug, which made him flinch back for a second, but then he gave in and hugged me close.

‘Thanks harry.’ He kissed my cheek, and then pulled back. ‘I’m sorry too, you know.’ He nodded, letting it sink in. I could see he understood me. Of course I was sorry. I should have never let it get this far. I should have put a stop to my ‘harry-feels’ as soon as they had risen. Or better yet; even before that.
