Alexandra "Alex" Smalls is a ambitious, smart and driven detective from Chicago, Illinois. All her life Alex wanted to do what was right and as a child had the tendency to constantly get trouble for it. After some misconduct and a altercation with her last partner, leaving him with a broken nose, she has been transferred to the New Orleans police department. Alex had always loved New Orleans, spending her summer's as a child, playing double dutch with her siblings and cousins and running in and out of her aunts hair shop in the 9th ward.

Being well aware of her aunts reputation of doing other things than hair in that shop, Alex never truly payed attention or questioned the supernatural, until one day she witness's something horrific in the alleyway while walking home from a bar late at night. She starts to question what really is going on in the city. And in that Alex meets a handsome stranger named Marcel Gerard, a well known figure amongst the citizens of New Orleans, but she knows there's more than meets the eye with Marcel. Through investigating these strange happenings Alex finds out a devastating secret that could change her life forever.
